When I use the term, at least in relation to cosmetics, it's really for anyone who has deeper skin than your average white person. Black women, Latina women, women from the Middle East, Southern Asia, etc. There are women from all these backgrounds (and more) who are considered WOC. But it's really not precise and up to the individual, I guess. But in this case "color" doesn't have the same connotations as a "colored person" ie. black. Hope that helps.

I see, so now I won't feel like there's an elephant in the room if I refer to myself as woc. My mother would slap me for even questioning it though lol oh well the world we live in right? Some people get very anal over those things.

I was thinking something along these lines though I think finals are next month she probably has a lot to do though :dunno:

I was just color matched at sephora and apparently I'm yellow undertoned in my face and pink in my neck. :hmm: So my makeup always looks a little off.

No bother at all. I think that's why WOC or POC is a popular term. You don't really have to get into the specifics of their ethnicity and some people don't like being called dark or deep. Everything can be offensive to someone, I guess.

And yeah, finals are next month but this month has been hectic just preparing for them. Thanksgiving Break won't be a break at all smh.

I miss finals week. Hectic and stressful, but oh-so-wonderful when you are done.

Oh lord. I don't need pleasure bomb. I don't need pleasure bomb. I don't need...
Probably not. BUT YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT MUAAAAHAHAHAHA
You should try having your delivery stopped at UPS so you can just pick it up there. Sign up for UPS MyChoice and choose Hold for Pickup when your order comes through. Easy as pie. (Pie is actually quite difficult if you're making the crust from scratch. Ignore that part.)
So I cracked up at that last part because I always make regular and cookie crumb pie crusts from scratch and the sheer thought makes me want to jump off of a bridge. I have to make two of each tonight *screams and rips out hair* I signed up for my ups choice the same day of my first disappearing order. AFTER I cursed out MAC and UPS customer service for telling me I had to wait a week for my stuff to show up before a claim could be filed...
Oh My goodness! Can you get it sent to your job or someone else's address maybe?
Yea, I started having deliveries sent to a family member's home.
I always grew up thinking it was women of African decent and normally always heard it used for darker women. My grandma always used that phrase so that's why I was confused
It's typically used to describe non-white women. I believe that initially it meant black or African American women, but after a while I think that didn't make sense since many other ethnicities of women actually have "color".

I normally assume that all brown or "dark skinned" black people, no matter the country of origin, are of African descent. Now depending on certain features you can determine if this is not the case. I mean a high melanin skin content is really majorly characteristic of the African continent. People forget that migrations of people from the African continent happened WAY before slavery. Even in biblical times so to speak. After doing a lot of studying of African American history and slave migrations it was pretty evident that African people moved around to or were take to places all over the world. Many latin people, even Australians, and some pacific islanders are of African descent and don't really know it or acknowledge it.
Too busy for not say Hi and Bye  lol.  I hope she is ok :peace: here on specktra is  woc a Dark skintone ladies :amused:  i got it So in general when i have to refer a dark skin people i have to say ??????  or simply nothing?   Sorry if this bothers, not my intention.
I wouldn't say that you have to, just refer to them as whatever they are. Now if you're not sure, referring to someone of a WOC is normally a safe, politically correct way to go.

I'm pretty sure Richelle is all good. Got a "Thumbs Up Thank You" notification just yesterday from her when I called Kanye West a douche on a different thread.
