So I just posted my collection thoughts over in the Magnetic Nude thread, and figured I'd do the same here since I'm so in love with all of my new goodies!!!
I'm an NW45/NC40 and I basically bought everything. Hahaha!
My Nordstrom haul was:
All 4 lipsticks (Studded Kiss, Instigator, Punk Couture, Hautecore)
All 3 lipglasses (Jet Boy, No Apologies, Dark Outsider)
Studded Kiss is the most wearable red I have ever worn. I thought Viva Glam I was, but nope. I can't wait to rock Studded Kiss at work & feel like a badass instead of feeling like people are staring. It's a conservative place, even though there aren't really any rules about makeup/dress/appearance. I love Studded Kiss so much. It's super flattering on my skin, and another that I just want to rub all over my lips. I compared it with every reddish colored lipstick I have, and Viva Glam I and Carnal Instinct come the closest, but VGI is redder and CI is more coppery.
Instigator is really pretty too! Because I have a dark pigmented lip, this one isn't so dramatic on me, but that's great! It reads as a dark raisiny purple on me, and again, something fairly wearable. I don't know if I'd wear it to work just because it is still on the darker side, but I'm not entirely opposed to it. I felt like this one probably had the best formula of the group, close in feel & application to SK.
Punk Couture is fierce and I like it. I was surprised by how wearable this one turned out to be too! It's purple, but it's not like puuuuuuurrrrrple. I feel awesome wearing this one. I've had a few purples, but none have been this saturated and quite this blue toned (they've been more pink toned like Narcissus or Maybelline Lavender Voltage, and Heroine), so I'm really happy to finally have this one. Another that I love.
Hautecore. I almost saved this one for last. I never expected to feel this way about a black lipstick. I bought Hautecore just because I felt like I should. As I was applying it to my lips, I thought that I was ruining this collector's item, but once I had it on, I really liked it. It's my first black lipstick, and I really like it!! And then I put on
Dark Outsider on top of it, and I was even more in love... and so was my husband! He could not stop raving about it, and when I threw on some blush & looked at him seductively, he told me to stop teasing him that way because that lipstick made him feel all tingly.
Hahahaha!
I was kind of disappointed in
Jet Boy and
No Apologies. I really expected them to be more pigmented than they were. On my lips, Jet Boy only really darkens my existing color & gives some depth (which I actually like, but I expected more). No Apologies just looks like sheer lipgloss. I barely even noticed the purple shimmer, and the color did nothing for me at all. Even over other colors, these didn't seem to do anything. I'm actually thinking about keeping Jet Boy because I do like the effect of "my lips but darker," but No Apologies is pretty worthless to me. Dark Outsider is also useful for that purpose, but I do like the shimmer in Jet Boy, as light as it may be on me. I'm disappointed, but with so many other wins, I REALLY needed to send something back anyway. Hahaha!
I hope maybe this helped someone who was on the fence before the MAC launch!!
