MAC Punk Couture Collection (December 26, 2013)

I just got some of my order. I instantly put on the No Apologies lipglass and I'm not impressed. It's very sheer. I can barely see any color

they r all pretty sheer. Look thru the pics there are swatches. Jet boy is the best one in my opinion. Try NA over a lipstick u may like it better

Happy New Year! I originally planned to go out for New Year's Eve, but then opted to stay in. I still did my makeup and decided to wear Punk Couture. I can't say enough how much I love this lipstick!




I outlined my lips with NYX Prune lip pencil then added Punk Couture. It is patchy for me, but I forgive it because of the color. I layered YSL

39 Pourpre Divin lipstick on top, and then used a lip brush to apply​

YSL

47 White Gold Topaze Golden Gloss.​

My Hautecore and Instigator were delivered on New Year's Eve, so I've now tried all 4 lipsticks. Instigator looks as I expected on me, but I was surprised to find it to be so much darker than Punk Couture. Currant or Vino lip pencils are perfect matches for Instigator. Nightmoth makes it even darker. I was correct in thinking that Punk Couture paired with Currant or Vino pretty much makes Instigator. I really like Hautecouture and it's my second favorite from the collection.

I haven't been finding any of the lipsticks patchy, but I have had to change up my application style a bit with them. I normally pat on a thin layer, rather than gliding the tube in a big sweep, but with these, one big glide first and then patting here and there to fill in, if necessary, seems to do the trick. Also I apply very deeply under my top lip and into my lower lip, but only after it's nice and smooth on the more front facing parts, since I find that if there's any saliva or just moistness on the lip, that's when the patchiness can happen. Plus so far, I haven't used liner with any of them - they all keep a nice sharp edge even without liner on me - but if I did, I'd put the lipstick on first, then finish the edges with the pencil afterwards. 'Could be the lip pencils are just waxy enough to act like a resist against the texture of the lipstick?

On New Years I wore Hautecore with No Apologies on top but only brought HC with me for touchups. Putting a little extra HC on top of NA really gave a great look, reducing the gloss but keeping the subtle color enhancement. I was rushing so I wanted something i already knew would be foolproof, but I REALLY want to try Smash Hit on top!

My MAC Rich Purple was delivered. Tried it on and it's not what I expected. I'm disappointed. It's a lot darker than Punk Couture than I thought it would be. It darkens the original color too much for my liking. I was hoping it would be a closer match. I'll find a use for Rich Purple with some of my other purple lipsticks, so it's not a waste.

I tried MAC Heroine lip pencil while I was at it. Not sure why I didn't before. It doesn't darken the color of Punk Couture, which is great for me. It does create sort of a magenta cast, however. Then I tried a staple pencil that I completely overlooked in my quest for the best purple pencil. A nude color that matches my skin tone. Duh! For me, that's MAC Cork/NYX Toast. It didn't alter the color and gave me defined lips.

Yeah! I swear by Dervish, which is my perfect lip color match, when nothing else will do. It's so much easier to use a lip matching color for liner than trying to match shades. Matching shades is just not necessary at all, especially if you're lining, then applying the lipstick on top. I still haven't used any of these with liners so far, but I'll probably stick to Just My Type or Absolutely It as the best choices to not change the colors for me (not for SK, but for all the rest of them). I would like to use a strong red liner underneath SK, to brighten it a bit, if I want a change.

I love Potent Fig but PC is so much better! Better color and so much better application and staying power. If MAC did a matte lipstick in the Potent Fig color, I'd probably go bananas, though!

I do love Potent fig as it is, and I'm glad it's different from Punk couture because I love purple lipsticks with a passion (I think my fave one is Violetta, I'm a brights girl at heart despite I do like vampy lips a lot XD)

I finished a couple of MAC lipsticks last year (and my stash is not that small)!

Thank you! It was my NYE look actually. On my eyes I used UD Virgin as the brow highlight, Naked as the transition colour, Creep in the crease, outer V and inner lid. Center lid was Gunmetal with a little Toasted on top. My waterline and lash line were UD Perversion with Gunmetal over Perversion on the lash line only. Peaches as my blush and Gold deposit as my cheek highlight.

I agree with liba I love using theses lippies without a liner insigator to me looks much better all by itself what I wanted ttt to be.pc I did use a jordana liner with it and it was beautiful. my bf loves pc I can't pick a favorite its funny because they look so much alike in the tube but so different on the lips.maybe I will wear pc in the day and insigator at night

My gut told me that it was but I guess it was wishful thinking....I wore Diva all day at work and SK was waiting for me at home...I took off Diva tried on SK..and had to look under the tube to make sure I didn't put on the same lipstick! LOL
