Thanks for your input and advice! I reallly want the compact (like I said I don't have any and would really like this one) so it would be nice to depot it. But in all honesty I'm completely lost on color theory and what undertones I have. I have zero knowledge on it and it goes right over my head.
Just judging by your profile pic, there is a good chance that you are actually light NC*, in which case you should be fine with either compact. If you can, go to the store. You can check out Golden and Refined Golden NOW in the store as these are perm products.

* Of course, without seeing you IRL, this is just my best guess.

Thanks so much you are a huge help. I am going to try and go to a store within the next week but I wish I didn't have to go alone. It intimidates me especially when you know you are ignorant and the sa KNOWS you're ignorant lol

No need to be intimidated. Just have fun. Make up should be fun!

Try them out on your face and see how you like them OUTSIDE (the lights in most stores makes it hard to judge the color).

You're absolutely right and thanks for that tip I wouldn't have even thought about it!

Dumb question but since I have not used bronzer much: if you use bronzer, blush and highlighter - what is their placement and in what order?

Coming out of the Lurkdom. Lol. I definitely want GotS, Mystical, and Delphic. Not sure about AS and EO. Already have Refined Golden. Love RG. Not sure if AS will show up on me or not. Also, has anyone used either Delphic or AS as a highlighter? I know Delphic is going to be too dark as a highlighter on me rn, but in the summer, I'm as tan as Karen from MBB. Tia. :)

I tried refined golden today at the Mac store. And I think I've found my bronzer. It really did look natural on my face.. And not like mud lol. I did afterwards put some cheeky to accentuate the cheekbones and highlight and I used full of joy out of sheer color play. Now I want full of joy

Hello ladies (and gents lol). Can anyone who has seen and swatched the ED bronzers tell me which would be more suitable (if any of them at all) for NC44 skintone? Thank you!

Aphrodite's Shell is for fair/medium skins I think. I don't have the other ED bronzer. I posted the pan in this thread :)

thank you to all the lovelies who have posted their pics!

so first thing yesterday morning i went to Debenhams and was the first and only customer for the first 15 minutes, so i got to play around with the collection all by myself!

got to try different lipstick/lipglass combos as well. i would've taken more pictures of swatches, but unfortunately my camera didn't capture the actual lighting that well at all.

here's what i thought:

  • for an NC40, both Delphic ED Bronzer and Refined Golden looked very similar on my skin. figured that since i already have AS and don't yet have a powder bronzer, i'd go for RG, which i did.
  • i finally got my hands on EO and a back-up GotS!
  • i do not like Siren Song and PMP. i'm sorry. they are lippies that aren't forgiving on flaky lips and therefore would be way too high-maintenance for me. i'm so glad i didn't cave in and buy them online before trying them out first. SS makes me look like a washed-out Zombie, and PMP made me look like a weird space alien. trying to define them more with the natural lip pencil made it worse!! i guess i could take them look better with a lipglass, but i'd rather have a lipstick that looks great on its own as well as with a gloss. otherwise what's the point of owning a colour that's mostly a miss?
  • Peachstock looks nothing like the MAC swatch image (sorry if i'm sounding like Captain Obvious here). it's pretty much a pale beige rather than a creamy peach. to me it's basically SS in Lipglass form. it's not flattering. glad i didn't buy this online either, but i was pretty close!
  • Water Deities also looked too frosty on me. i already have Nymphette which gives me a slight peachy shimmer, and does it well. WD doesn't, sadly. i've seen a lot of gorgeous EO/WD combo pics on here, but for me that combo looked too pale and, again, frosty. i got Seducing Sound instead, which looks really nice paired with EO.
  • as difficult as it was, i skipped the EDES - i'm still building up my 2nd x15 eye palette, and have loads of Urban Decay palettes, so the EDES colours weren't that different compared to what i already have, and what is already out there in the permanent collections. texture-wise however, they're wonderful. i just can't justify the price for the amount you're getting, for colours that are very pretty but nothing unique.

this afternoon i went to another MAC store to try out SS, PMP, PS and WD again, in different store lighting. sadly the same still applies - i just ain't feeling them, y'all.

Karen from Makeup & Beauty Blog is a similar skintone to me (it helps seeing as we're both Filipino!), so her swatches are super helpful. but bloody hell she rocks every single one of those colours, inc. the ones that look awful on me. she's awesome but i hate her.

LOL

Delphic.
I know you've been answering a lot of questions lately Mac-Guy, but hopefully one more won't hurt lol. I think you mentioned using Delphic as more of a blush (At least on Med-Deep NC's.) Do you think it would look best layered with another color or could it be fine alone? Placement? I was thinking of using it with something like Wordly Wealth or Magnetic Appeal EDSF for a simple sorta bronzey-brown look. Thanks for any help!

Bronzer first in an E3 placement on the temples, cheekbones and jawline. Then whats left on the brush hit the forehead, bridge of nose and chin. Then blush. No highlighter.
