Do I really need a bu of True Red? It's been awhile since I've loved a red this much. But I'm trying to be good. The struggle is real!
Normally I'd say yes for the perfect red, but if you already have BUs of other perfect reds, I guess the checklist to go through in your mind is:
- do you wear your reds a lot (remember you don't need to touch up reds so often usually, so you use less even when you wear them a lot)
- does it compliment your other HG reds ( like you already have a deep HG, a blue red HG, an orange red HG and this one fits for a neutral red HG)
- how often do you find the "perfect" red (for me it took years to find an HG and I didn't buy any until I did (Runaway Red
), but last year MAC did a few all at once that were really good for me, so I skipped all the Pedro reds, all across the board, because suddenly I had quite a few)
Sometimes I wonder why it took so long for really good reds to start coming around so often, after it had been years since there had been that much great selection. I figure it's a combination of red being really in right now, combined with perhaps some new pigment technology, so the old banned materials, that were so nice and rich, but toxic, have finally been replaced with equally good ones that are non-toxic - creating really great synthetic pigments involves some serious tech and chemistry. I haven't BU'ed a red since Ronnie Red, even when I adore it (hello, Mangrove!!) because I just am not getting through my tubes of red that fast and there really are so many new, interesting reds that keep coming out, all much better for my skin tone than in the past. I think I'd rather have more variety and novelty and just go with that, when it comes to red.
