OK, I'm still pissed but here goes: This is my local Sephora that I always go to. Just about once a week and everyone knows me. They know I go in, say hello and then I am off on my own. I browse, I swatch, I find the good light, I think and I buy (90%) of the time. Cool. This woman has been working in the store for as long as I've been there. Now you know how something happens between you and someone and then it makes your entire "relationship" come into focus? Yeah, that's what happened here. It wasn't until I was checking out that I realized this woman was never more than 10 feet away from me AT ALL TIMES. She was supposed to cover the front of the store. This is a light Thursday when just 3 workers were in the store and only 6-7 customers. Of course, none of the other customers looked like me. So as I wandered off to the back to the polishes and perfumes, there she was. Left her whole section uncovered. Anyone could've come and stolen the entire front end of the store because she just had to follow me around. Acting like she had stuff to straighten, but no everything was pristine because THE STORE JUST OPENED! Then I think and realize she never says hello to me ever. She never offers me a basket even when I have a handful of stuff. Every other time she was hanging around I chalked it up to her doing her job. Usually, there was always more customers around me so, that's what she's supposed to do. No, it's crystal clear I was being singled out. It was ridiculously obvious. I spend way too much money in Sephora. Although I know many people who buy also steal I wondered why I was followed and no one else was. Yeah, the answer came to me real quick. It's humiliating really to be followed like some kind of criminal because of the color of my skin. I have never stolen a thing in my teen/adult life. I was raised better than that and I deserve better treatment than that. After I swiped my card and as I walked out, I noticed she was nowhere to be found. How about that?

I had a very similar situation happen to me a few years ago I was visiting my mother in law who lives about an hour away and we weren't planning on staying for the weekend but we did so the morning after when i woke up I figured let me go to sephora pick up some foundation and some travel size items I looked like a bumb in sweatpants and a hoodie hair up no makeup at all I walked in pretty early around 9 am ish a couple people were there with me and all I had was my card in my hoodie pocket since I needed new foundation anyway I decided why not splurge a little I was looking into getting some Dior foundations and I was being followed the whole time and I mean like a couple feet away from me followed I didn't pay any mind to it until I got to the travel size section when I put a they're real mini mascara in my pocket because of all the items in my hand as soon as I got in line the same girl who followed me came up to me and said I have to come with her I asked why and she told me she saw me put something into my pocket I took the mascara out and told her I out it in my pocket because I had my hands full and no one offered me a bag and I didn't wanna drop a 59 dollar glass bottle of foundation and have to pay for it I was saying this in a pretty pissed voice long story short manager came out I told her what happened I told her I'm a very good customer and I don't deserve to be treated this was and I got a free gift no idea what happened with the employee though

That is just awful. Glad you explained the situation, you were in the right. She was rude, she didn't even wait to see if you would put the item on the counter. Geez!

Unfortunately the age-old hoodie gets a bad rap---it's like the kiss of death anymore-------and I love my little hoodies.
