I was trying to call quite a few stores weeks before hand because I didn't want to deal with this online waiting game.

Apparently they're really cracking down on what the stores can and can't do, especially since this collection is so in demand. I called stores in a few NE states and most of them told me no they can't do preorders and ship day of--most told me the best they could do is let me call at 10am when they open, and they'd save items for me to pick up that afternoon (UNLESS they were in that high of a demand). If the items are still around a few days later, then they'd consider sending it out... but it all varies by location. Some told me they don't ship at all.

Edit: the funny thing is though, a mac chat assistant was the one that told me to try doing this--he said the stores should offer shipping at a flat rate of about $10-$11.

If this launches tomorrow I'm screwed so I hope it launches at some point today. I'm going to be taking my laptop all around the house with me.

I was trying to get some work done. Are you saying the RHPS is DELAYED until Oct. 16? Sorry for the repeat question and clarification.

Lordy. Thank you. That doesn't sound promising to me.

In-store pickup isn't an option for me; there's only one MAC store in this state, and it's almost 5 hours away.
