I've fallen behind in this thread. Did you ever get Pavlos, Dolly?

Well, we had a 50/50 chance that it would look the way it did based on the variety of photos we've seen. I had swatched it first at the counter and it did look as if it would pull more red but once home on the lips, nope. I feel guilty and bad to return it so I am going to keep it for the time being. Who knows, it might grow on me as a 'basic daily' type color but for the price and hype it fails to deliver. Like I mentioned before, Runner surpasses it by a mile. Now I wish I might have gotten Wes instead BUT I already have colors similar and don't want to waste $32. I am committed to trying to make this work...for NOW.

It is funny how it looks so deep and reddish on some people and muddy and brown on others, myself included.
I noticed that too. At one point I was convinced people were mislabelling lol. Maybe you can try a vampy lip liner like MAC's nightmoth and see if that gives you the deep red you were looking for. I bought Runner and love it too. It is just such a beautiful colour.

It is another 'chameleon' like lipstick, that's for sure. The first time I wore it was with Current but that was not quite a match. I did like it better with Chestnut because it made it deeper but that muted out the red. The now discontinued cremestick liner 80% was the best match but eh, the color just doesn't really do anything for me. Next time I wear it, I will try it with Nightmoth. Might as well give it a whirl. I am just afraid that it will add to it looking murky, though. :(

Hopefully it works out the way you want it too. I hate when you have a vision for something and it just doesn't perform :(

OMG I can't believe my boys have arrived! So quickly!! Haven't had a chance to swatch or try them but I'm shocked at how small they are, lol!! They're very cute though and perfect for the handbag, I have way too many lipsticks anyway, don't need full sized!

YES!! I've been looking for a real reddish brown for literal IONS. I love Runner on its own and it is close but it needs to have a bit more brown to be what I envision.

Two quick natural light lip swatches of Tomas and Jack! I love them both. :) Tomas looks more orange on me than it does in some swatches I've seen online. Jack is a beautiful color that somewhat reminds me of Buxom's Swinger. Sort of. This one was harder to capture as it looks a bit pinker in photos. In person it pulls a little more purple on me. Hope this helps! :) ETA: my face is darker in the Tomas swatch because the sun momentairly hid behind a cloud. Lol first world swatch problems! The picture is still very true to real life though.

I hear you on the blue toned reds. Being fair neutral warm, I was going for the warm toned reds too always. My favorite is probably Dior 999. I even returned Guerlain Rouge G Parade because it made my skin look off. But I began to question that, because I can wear wines, red violets, deep roses, magentas and even certain purples. Why do some cool tones work and not others? And I think vibrancy is part of it. If the color is very vibrant and cool enough for contrast, it has a brightening effect. But this is an experiment and I hope I don't regret it. If anyone else has an insight into this, I would love to hear it.
I have the same 'problem' as you have. I'm not really a fan of cool reds on me and tend to go for the warm/orange reds. And I also think that vibrancy is the key with cooler reds (and pinks, and even purples). Also as I'm a redhead I find that really blue purples and pinks are the best for me because they are in contrast with my natural colouring (my lips cancel the blue in them a bit).

I did not get any L&B reds, I've bought so many Mac reds of late. Only corals and a variety of nudes. (pic coming...)

Gorgeous! I love love love them both on you! And it's crazy how the skintone changes when you're trying to get a good shot. Sometimes when the lip color looks truest, I look as pale as a ghost. And then when the sun really shines I look like I've been at the beach LOL. As you say, #firstworldswatchproblems

I haven't gotten Jack - yet. But I have a couple other things to get from Nordies tonight or tomorrow so if it's still in stock I'll probably get it. Leaving it up to fate :)

I agree sometimes that contrast between warm and cool really works. Of course then sometimes it doesn't! I can also do cool purples but only cool nude/light pinks. Anything approaching medium pink is just wrong on me - warm or cool. Unless it's pink coral. Coral I can handle ;) Glad your boys have arrived!
