This is a really dumb question, so sorry in advance, but I'm truly curious as to why certain colors sell out within seconds whereas other colors in a collection are available for hours/days/weeks. For example, LJ is a very pretty color and unique, but I just wonder why everyone was so eager to snag this particular color out of the 4? It's not a super easy color to wear, so I just wonder where the hype gets started? I know DG from osbournes had a similar reaction, again it seems like a difficult color to wear and pull off for most? I dunno, I'm rambling, I got no sleep last night stalking lol It's just fun to see why we get excited over 1 color whereas the others are meh

I think that the color is interesting and calls attention therefore people gravitate towards it hoping that somehow it will work on them (myself included) this time around....in other words delusional/hopeful dreaming lol

Most of the sales are from resellers who have a sense of the items that are going to be 'hot' or 'most wanted'. The faster something sells out, the more eager people are to get that unattainable lipstick and that drives the product to a cult-like status in which you have to have it and if you have it, you're indeed very lucky. It's somewhat like the herd mentality to be honest.

I'm having mild skippers remorse over Forbidden Sunrise. I don't know why, I just got rid of several oranges because I don't wear them... Lol

Don't! You know which shades you like on you, and in this instance, which shades you don't. You're just being a smart shopper!

Herd mentality. I forget what terms Gladwell uses in The Tipping Point, but he does a great job of explaining this phenomenon. It's so easy to fall into it.

Because it's the more interesting colour I think. You can find almost exact dupes for RB and BK in MAC's permanent range and some similar oranges to FS, but they have nothing like LJ or DG in their permanent range, and it's not a colour that shows up in every third collection. Not the easiest colour to find from other companies either, most similar lipsticks from mainstream brands lean even pinker, and not everyone's into or aware of smaller brands/indie brands.

I personally find colours like LJ/DG very easy to wear though. Out of the 4 that would by far be the easiest one for me to pull off.

Lol the heart always wants...if you know you never reach for oranges, I'd say you are being safe and smart. There will be other collections for you to buy from with colors you will wear!
