Hey Mel!!Do you know, I was going to say that a blogger did this with another Chanel collection (Reverie Parisienne, I think) so I didn't bother to look at their videos again.
Clicked the link and realized it's the same blogger.
It's just a little pet peeve of mine.
Mine too! Especially since it's so easy these days to just google. Google translate has a voice section that tells you how the word would sound. If you're a blogger and pushing high end products... you better learn to say that French word! (or at least not make the effort and apologise to any French-speaking viewers lol)

I would never expect the average person or even a blogger to know how to pronounce a foreign language. And I don't feel that anyone should feel ashamed if life circumstances never gave the opportunity to learn that. That is different from someone who is putting themselves out there on video. It's not about speaking it with a perfect accent or anything. If she made the effort, we would all be able to learn how to pronounce it a little better-- and wouldn't that be great? And the reason it bothers me personally (and I can certainly understand if people feel different ways about this) is because I feel beauty is not just visual. I love Chanel and to me, honoring the elegance and the French aesthetic of the brand is also about honoring the words, the sounds, the language, the culture and the sense of beauty to the best of one's ability. Again that is IF and ONLY IF you are putting yourself out there in public in a format where you are modeling how it is spoken for others. Yes, we can always turn the volume down, we can tune out and ignore a whole lot of things that go on in our world. But beauty is about sensibility and it is not just skin deep.

Most of the people who have blogs or film makeup videos are just average people who happen to love makeup and want to share that love with other like minded people. It doesn't bother me that they can't/wont pronounce the names correctly. I've had 4 years of French and I can't say half of the names of Chanel products. Most of the Chanel sales associates can't pronounce them either so I certainly don't expect someone who is filming a video for fun to know how. To each his own, but I watch makeup videos for the makeup not to immerse myself if the beauty of the French language. If I want that, I'll watch a French film. Mallory is great at what she does, no need to critique her language skills.

....or we could take the initiative to learn it on our own and not rely on a blogger. For me it's just not that bothersome, perhaps because at my age----- I don't sweat the
small things. I respect your love and passion for the brand and appreciate your desire to watch a video that doesn't offend your sensibilities. I hope you can find one
that satisfies that need.

I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the perfume.... in my head it is Lancome Tresor but that was released too late. I was in middle school so 1978 or thereabouts & my French teacher just went off on some perfume being mispronounced in an advert. A blogger not knowing French may be bothersome but after a national ad put out by company butchering the language it doesn't bother me much.
