Ladies, do we think the Glass Tears palette has suitable shades for a 16 yr old African American girl? I signed up to buy gifts for kids for the holidays and that's the info I have for the girl who wants makeup. I was thinking that palette for how awesome the packaging is and then a bigger palette with more colors.
Here are my swatches of the Glass Tears palette. The only shade I think would be unsuitable is the lightest matte shade. As you can see in the picture it barely shows up on my skin and I'm pale as hell.

My 16 year old niece is big into eyeshadow palettes and liquid liner. I bought her KVD Ink and the ABH Prism palette for Christmas this year. I think that an eyeshadow palette is a great idea and the Nars one is gorgeous.

Thank you all for your input!

My plan is to buy a little of everything. This is her one chance for nice things, so I'm going big! The families are vetted to be allowed to participate in the program, so they are truly in deep need. One of her requests was deodorant and toiletries. I'll just do a CVS gift card for that part, but makeup, watch out! And I already ordered extra Fresh lotions and shower gels with the Sephora sale, so she'll get some of those too.

This collection finally launched here last week and I ended up with just the Double Take Overexposed Glow HL and it is absolutely gorgeous. If I didn't have so many others I'd get a back up. I liked the hot pink lip gloss and the bronze toned eyeliner but I think I can go without. The cheek veil palette was very pretty but the HL is too dark and I have the bronzer already.

This gave me fuzzy feelings. I would hug you so big if I were next to you!

Glass Tears would be amazing on deeper skin. It's on my list and I'm really mad it hasn't launched on Sephora yet!! lol

Thank you for all your advice and skin tone help. I want to get it right for her. And while I'm sorry you're missing the GT palette, I'm happy I have it for this sweet girl. ;)

I got the Santiago el pencil today...ugh, the shade is so pretty but it has no intensity or staying power. it's going back. What a shame.

It's a good thing you mentioned toiletries; last year I saw an org in the US that dispenses sanitary napkins etc to homeless women and I was supposed to look for something similar. It's amazing what can be taken for granted!

I wore the pink blush the other day. I didn't notice any sparkles. I was afraid it might be too much color so I applied a light dusting with the Yachiyo brush. I just tried it again. I see the sparkles in the 5x and 10x magnified mirror but not my regular mirror. Hope that helps.

thanks! i ended up not getting it - for now. based on your post above and another (i think it was about 'so close' in the chanel chat), i think the two blushes might be showing up a little differently on us. so close shows up almost matte on me and i think you mentioned shimmers (which are definitely there but somehow don't translate onto my skin much). i am going to an event at my Murale this week, so if they still have items from the collection i'll try it on my face and decide.

i'm still hemming and hawing on the blush. i did end up getting the glass tears palette though. thinking i'll wear it tomorrow.

i really like the intensely blush...wore it today. i like how it gives a bright pop of colour, but it's quite sheer at the same time.

i'm also thinking more and more i want the love game palette. did you end up finding it in the us?

No Love Game here.

:(

I'm back and forth every day on that palette. On one hand it looks similar to shades in glass tears and other palettes, on the other hand, that burgundy!

I wore a few shades from the Glass Tears palette last night and really liked it. I used the gold on the lid, the black to set my eye pencil on upper lid, the reddish brownish shade on crease and inner crease (that 30's kind of makeup), and the light beige on browbone. I also used a activist (dark brown) from the tartelette in bloom palette to help deepen the inner crease shadow. i was worried the beige shade would be too dark but it was perfect for this look - really made my lashes stand out.

Have you done other looks with this palette?
I haven't seen many looks online...it seems a lot of people do swatch/review videos and posts, but fewer are doing actual looks...i enjoy seeing what people come up with as much as i appreciate seeing what things swatch like!!!

boschicka, when are you giving out your gifts? I'm so excited for that girl to get her stuff; a little joy can go a long way

Thanks for asking. I'm excited too.
My last Sephora sale order was for her. Placed it on Nov 15th and it hasn't shipped yet, so I'm getting a little peeved about it. I have to turn the gifts in by Dec 11th, so I might just cancel the Sephora order and go through Ulta instead. I think I can get almost everything (NARS e/s base, makeup remover, eyeliner, lipstick set, Shiseido cotton) from Ulta except for the Marc Jacobs lip gloss set and the eyeshadows. If I have to order from Ulta, I'll probably just go with the Lorac holiday lip gloss set and maybe the Morphe Jaclyn Hill palette to replace those items?
We hand over the items to the charity, then they give the girl's parents/caregivers the gifts with wrapping materials so they can gift them to her on Christmas.
I bought the large snowman bushel basket from Michaels to put everything in. I also already have a Chanel eye blending brush, a Zoeva shadow brush to lay down color, a Ted Baker makeup bag, nail polish remover, nail polish, a Real Techniques large holiday brush set, the NARS e/s palette, shower gel, lotion, ABH glow kit, and a CVS gift card.
I think that covers most needs. Hopefully she has fun playing with everything.

I'm so excited for her to have some special holiday cheer!!

That sounds absolutely incredible! I am so excited for her! She will be over the moon! Would love to be a fly on the wall to see her open it. Just awesome.
