*best new product:
-permanent: Technakohl liners. They're like everything I love about all the other liners (staying power of Fluidliners and smooth easy application of kohl pencils) in one great product.
-LE: Natural MSFs. These are such an awesome lazy day foundation substitute.
*worst new product:
-permanent: Plushglasses. So much money for such little results.
-LE: See Thru Lipcolor. MAC made the valiant lip stain effort, but failed where other brands have succeeded.
*best colorstory: Sundressing. Loved the shadows and pigments. Loved the lippies. Loved the powders. This is what I love in a MAC collection...the colors are interesting and all go well together in unexpected ways, and the textures and shades are quality. I usually ignore LE collection stuff I buy after a month, but I still love the blue and gold goodness of Sundressing.
*worst colorstory: Deja Rose. I love pink shades, but I was hoping for so much more from this collection, like possibly something more exciting and unique in the MAC pink department (remember last year's corresponding collection, C Squeeze, with its cool and new orange shades? That's what I was expecting, only in pink).
MAC's overall rating for the year...7. They released some good stuff, don't get me wrong, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find quality, unique products in this avalanche of new LE stuff. I would rather collections have a lot of permanent repromotes with one or two quality LE colors that really wow me, rather than everything being LE and average. Sorry MAC, I love you, but I need another sheer, mid-toned pink lipstick like I need a hole in the head. Plus, I find that the things MAC is making to answer trends featured in other brands (lip stains, lip plumpers, etc.) haven't been done very well. Overall, in my opinion, MAC has definitely had better years.
