A couple of MAC questions..

Just a couple of quick questions..

Ok, one.. Does anyone know if all Macy's have a MAC counter? We do have a Macy's in a mall semi-near us that the MAC website has under their store lacator, but, it's still pretty far away and a pain in my ass to get to. BUT, the mall nearest to me just opened up a Macy's.. I haven't been in it yet because I hate malls with a passion, but, the thought that it may have a MAC counter has me all kinds of excited to go see!

Now.. if I do go to a MAC counter, am I going to be bombarded by a ton of salespeople who will be up my ass trying to get me to buy this and that? I'm only wanting two specific things, but, I've never been to a MAC counter in my life.. so I have no clue how to find what I want.

All I want is a beige-ing shadestick and bare canvas paint. That's it. No more, no less. Well.. for now, at least

This is all I know from my experience. There is a Macy's in St. Louis that DOES have a MAC counter, and I've been to a couple Macy's in St. Louis that DON'T have them. Hopefully, this answers question #1. Or at least gives you a better perspective.

The best thing would be to call the Macy's.

Secondly, in my experiences with MAC, I've been to only 3 different locations. Two were counters (Nordstrom & Macy's), the other at a Freestanding store. (I've never bought online) I've never once been 'bombarded' or 'pushed' to buy anything more. I think the only time I felt like I was obligated to buy something was when I had a makeover done for free during one of their shows... (I would have felt bad if I didn't buy anything).

Usually when I go into a MAC store knowing what I want, the MAs can tell. Just be direct and let them know what you want. The ones here are always friendly, and ask if they can help you, which I then respond, "Not at the moment, I'm just looking" just so I can have time to play.

I'm not sure how MAs are in other locations, so it's best that you just try for yourself.

Good luck!! I hope they have a MAC counter there just for your convenience.

At the counter I freelance at, we are not encouraged to "push" the customers. We may ask if you have seen the new collection if one is out, just because we move them sometimes and we don't want someone leaving empty handed if they may have come to see the new stuff, but think we don't have it. They will most likely just ask if they can help you and when they do say something like "Yes please, I just need __ and __, and that'll be it!" That way they understand that you know what you want, and you won't sound rude or defensive.

The Macys in Waterbury CT. doesn't have one (although it's 'bout time they *got* one...it would be closer for me to drive there than West Hartford...but I do like the W. Htfd. mall better)...However, I think more and more of them do have MAC counters these days (especially since MAC has gotton SO popular with all demographics)...

As for the sales people...most of them are pretty good at the counters (at least all the ones I've personally been to)..Just say hello to them, and tell them you'd like to look around (if you do), and let them know you'll get them when you need assistance...

In my experience, the MA's are pretty good about not pressuring customers. Sure, they need to make their sales goals (along with most salespeople), and will recommend other products; but if you let them know you came only for an express purpose and only want those items, I don't think anyone will try to sell you things you don't want....

Oh...last, but certainly not least...Look around, and HAVE FUN!!!!!

I think what I will just call first before I head up there. I'll also do just as you all said and specify exactly what I want and hope for the best lol

Pushy salespeople make me crazy. Hopefully, I won't run into any at the counter (IF they have one, that is). That's the main reason why I hate malls. It seems that I can't go into a department store without someone pushing something at me. My mom is a salesperson for a furniture company and she's always trying to get me into "sales". No mom.. just.. no

Now, onto the complete opposite, I was also a little worried that they might not give me the time of day. I'm not a young girl anymore and I'm not all that great with makeup. I dunno. As great as MAC seems to be, I think maybe I've put it on too high of a pedestal.. or something.
