i always kind of wanted to learn how to bake and decorate baked stuff, but i don't really eat it so i never bothered. buuut now that i have someone who always can down a few cupcakes and cookies, i'm going to start.

i made some devil's food cupcakes this afternoon and i decorated them with black and white whipped buttercream frosting. a couple of the white ones, i sprayed with black food colouring paint to turn them gray and i added black sugar crystals (which look green to me?!) to a few of the cupcakes. i just did a basic swirl, and a couple of them came out terrible...but i think they look kind of nifty in the box either way.

next week i'm planning on making jumbo hello kitty cupcakes for my boyfriend's sister's birthday...we'll see how that goes, i'm envisioning my kitchen looking like a cake bomb went off in it, because it turns out i'm pretty messy when it comes to this baking thing.

i wasn't really impressed with the taste, devil's food isn't sweet enough for me. if i'm going to eat something like cupcakes, i want them super sweet. my boyfriend and his partner came by and got a couple though, and they both loved them.
