A product burned my skin, now what?

I made the VERY stupid mistake of falling asleep w/ a facial mask on (Clinique Emergency Mask). I was watching TV the other nite and, well... the rest is history.

Newho, when I rinsed the mask off, my skin hurt alot. I figured this was due to the mask, duh. That was Tuesday nite. Now the area around my skin is still burning, but its actually looking scarred with a dry crusty kinda situation happening.

Just looking for ideas of what I could treat it with? Or just let it run its course? TIA....

I second that! Don't wait too long, you skin could get stained.

go to the doctor and tell him what you did. make sure you bring the mask with you. he'll probably just tell you to be careful next time and give you some ointment of sorts.

Go to the doctor. They'll probably give you a steroid ointment and a lecture, but it's better to be safe than sorry.

what exactly was in the product?? the strongest stuff I think Clinique puts in their stuff is salycylic acid?? depending where you live I'd definately stay away from the weather elements (avoid getting sun burned, cold wind...pretty much anything to irritate your skin). If it's "itchy" I'd try some hydrocortisone (avoid eye area) and for further irritation maybe some aloe vera gel.

Clinique has terrible skin care. Their products have a lot of alcohol and chemicals and I always se people having an adverse reaction to the things in their line.

In addition to what the doc says, keep your face hyradated with a great moisturizer and cleanse at least twice a day with something mild.
