Hi Everyone! This is my first post.
Usually I just do the regular white-tip French manicure, but that is getting a bit boring, so I figured I should create something a little more exciting. So first I went for pink tips. They needed a little something to make them pop, so I added a swoop of black over the smile lines.
Here are the products. The brands are all over the place, I am still a novice nail artist
:
Next, I used the Yellow Stopper as a top coat (two coats there as well). Here I realized that it looked plain, so I went to find some black striper to spice things up (I would have loved black glitter, but Sally's was out of stock).
The Striper is awesome because it is water based, so for someone like me who is new to the whole striping business, it was excellent that I could just wipe off mistakes with a wet cotton pad. As for the design, I just swooped it on each nail, trying to make it more or less uniform.
Finally, I painted on two coats of the Orly Topcoat - which is one of my favorites because it makes the surface very glossy and dries fairly quickly. Here is the finished product:
I am new to taking pictures of my work, so any tips on that subject are very welcome.
If I had thought this would turn out, I would have taken pictures along the way and made it into more of a tutorial, but this project was sort of an experiment. Looking at the pictures, I keep seeing things that could use improvement, but hey thats what next time is for, right?
Anyway, thanks everyone for taking a look, and thanks in advance for any CC!

Finger Paints Nail Color - In The Vault Violet
Super Nail Pure Acetone
Sicara Sable Medium Shadow Brush
American Classics Top Coat - Yellow Stopper
So Easy Stripe Rite - Black
Orly Won't Chip Protective Top Coat
Basically I painted on the tip color (in this case a bright fuschia color), not worrying about lines just yet. I used two coats this time, let them dry, then I used a sable eyeshadow dipped in pure acetone to make the smile lines sharp and even. Next, I used the Yellow Stopper as a top coat (two coats there as well).
