Abolish the IRS and get the new Fair Tax

OK Again do not agree to this unless you are fully educated and can make an informed decision on this topic. I think it would really great if this really started happening.
Anyway- this is a little disclaimer:
ALWAYS REMEMBER
Don't believe anything you read on this post, unless it is consistent with what you already know to be true, or unless you have taken the time to research the matter to prove its accuracy to your satisfaction. This is known as "doing your homework."

So what is the Fair Tax & What will it do for you?
Seriously if I could I would send everyone a book by Neal Boortz called The FairTax book-I seriously would.
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp?z=y&isbn=0060875496&itm=2

Well 1) It will get rid of the IRS 2) Bring fairness to the taxation (like what the hell is a death tax? Can dead people pay taxes? :p ) 3) It brings to light exactly what is going on in the tax policy and holds people accountable 4) helps Americans to compete fairly in the markets, 5) Helps those who are retired to keep their ENTIRE Pension 6) helps us keep our hard earned paychecks.

Now I know this is going to be a sensitive thing (but I'm very blunt) if you sit down and start to go through everything you are taxed on. Say you have (going to keep this simple here mainly because it's just easier) $100 you brought home today.

$100
-$10 for Social Security
-$10 for Medicare
-$5 for gasoline
-$10 for State Tax
-$20 for Federal tax
-$5 for tax on the food you bought to eat
- $20 for the house and utilities
-$15 for property tax (including home and car and tag)
_____________________________________
$5 that goes into your pocket for actually doing stuff!

$95 goes to the Government! So essentially we as Americans are being paid slave wages!

Now consider this- Say you have brought home 40,000 a year (and thats how much you make) and after all this taxation you only wind up bringing home $10,000.

So you're entire lifetime if you live to say-75 is 750,000

And the money you put into Social Security? Guess what? It's not there! So now with the 750,000 that you hopefully saved some of you now have to live off of which requires MORE TAXATION!

So you get to be put in a retirement home etc and within 6 months you only have to bring home $5,000

And then you die.

Don't forget the tax on the funeral, the death tax and all the other hidden expenses that are taxable! Yeah you're entire life guess what? You made one lousy dollar. So you died-after the taxation you're life financially was worth $1

Everything else went to the government.

Now There is a movement that would actually fix this called the Fair Tax. This is sponsered by Neil Boortz and John Linder.
Here are the webpages to check them out:

Neil boortz is a liberterian:
www.boortz.com

John Linder is a congressman:
http://linder.house.gov/

Now, here is the fun part: This has already really picked up speed in Atlanta. They rented out a convention center here in ATL and it was so full they fit 4, 500 people in there and had to turn away another 4000! That's saying a lot. Neil has openly said at first he didn't want to do a rally because it would be bad if nobody showed up. Well BOO on them!

Another supporter of the fair tax and I LOVE this man-is Herman Cain.
http://www.hermancain.com/

Here are some quotes from Herman Cain:
http://thinkexist.com/quotes/herman_cain/

It's so big that (as Boortz says not my words) that there is a Rally tomorrow in Orlando. I can't make it unfortunately, I've already written a letter of support though (because he asks us if we can't make it then try to write a letter to the station):

" The Republican Congressional Campaign Committee is sending representatives down to Orlando to watch this thing."

People are refusing to vote unless this thing is on the ballots. It's becoming a huge movement that we all need to start watching and paying a lot of attention to and if we agree with it start pushing for it and writing letters to our representatives and pushing like there is no tomorrow. This is the way we break free of our tax code, this is the way we keep the money we break our backs for and this is the way we can be free from the IRS.

Anyway. Here is the website to look around it explains it a lot better (as does neil boortz and Mr. Linder):
http://fairtax.org/

Seriously look around the website, see what you think. Many congressmen and women are actually looking into supporting it:
http://www.fairtaxvolunteer.org/scorecards/index.html

And even better look at what your tax return would be with this:
http://fairtax.org/tax_returns.html

Got a question? Look at the answers:
http://www.fairtaxvolunteer.org/smart/faq.html

Now I know a lot of people are saying: youbeabitch you're always telling us never to believe anything unless we do our research and know for a fact this is the right thing!

Well the best part is- YOU CAN! I gave you many links above to find answers and the people who support it. And here are some more for a more clear understanding!
smiles.gif
If you still wanna research yourself-google is a wonderful tool!

But here are some more informative links:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FairTax#Effective_tax_burden
http://www.fairtaxblog.com/
http://www.fairtax.net/
http://www.geocities.com/cmcofer/ftax.html
http://www.gafairtax.com/

This thing is getting really big. And It needs to have even more help from the grass roots (Thats me and you!) than ever. The politicians they only care about polls- they don't give a rip about us but if WE threaten their jobs with this (IE: You dont support this we vote for the other guy next time) Guess what? They will listen!

Thanks for hearing me out people!

I'll have to read your articles, I just filed my taxes (federal is tolerable because they'd already taken out tons) but Oklahoma has rediculous taxes with only a $2000 standard deduction per person has not been adjusted since 1982 here, so my family of five the deduction is only 10,000 ack. Just venting on my state!! Tax systems are inequitable state to state. I don't know, I'm kind of a libertarian anymore. My attitude towards the Government is "deliver my mail and leave me the hell alone" I hate seeing forced insurance being started for healthcare.(that is a whole other can of worms) ..

I also think that it would be much better to be taxed fairly. This post Brings to mind Disney's robin hood - lol.

But you are so right, It really hacks me off - when you realize 9% goes to sales tax - and then gasoline tax..but My paycheck comes from taxes....my husbands paycheck is funded from taxes....double edged sword for me.

LOL You know it's kind of strange because we are in a time (a modern version) of Robin Hood. It's not about a tax on the wealthy anymore. I mean that's what its all about-20 years ago when Bernie Marcus started Home Depot-he had the ability to. Now any entrepenure who wants to get a big business and start a new business- they can't.
The government taxes those who bust their asses and get jobs and get money while those who do absolutely nothing (IE: People who abuse the system of welfare!) aren't getting taxed. They say oh the big bad rich-no the big bad rich were the ones who made something of themselves and thought for themselves and busted their ass to do something about it.

With this tax plan I think it will be evident clearly how much the government is robbing us blind and the money that supposidly goes to the poor people-guess what? It doesnt! It just feeds this hungry beast known as the US Government!

Anyway-let me know what you think about the links. But then again I'm already for the fair tax so I am a bit biased

Wow..with all of the taxes you Americans pay you should have free health care too and more family benefits as well.

That's a good point. The only problem would be (and this is only from my opinion because I am a die hard liberterian) that it would counteract what this fair tax is all about. The fair tax is trying to push the government out of our lives. If we had free health care, free medicare etc
#1) Theres no guarentee that it will actually funnel into the health care, prescription drugs, etc - example-Social Security. We have billions of dollars going into Social Security right now with every single person who has a job-guess what? Social Security is non existant. By the time I get to retire there will be nothing in the Social Security bank the same bank where I put 1/4 of my earnings for when I retire.
#2) It will be the tax payers footing the bill
#3) That means more government in our lives to tell us what to do and where to go etc.

But that is a good thought!

I'd rather be taxed on things I actually use... Or support...

I think governments would be a lot more careful with spending if their citizens had more control over where the money comes from, and where it is used. SInce our "elected" officials aren't exactly doing a stellar job.

I'd like to know what the US Governments credit score is. If i borrowed money like they do I'd have creditors calling me 24-7. Yet year after year they still seem to be able to get massive loans.

And i LOVE how people in government get to decide when to give themselves raises. I wish I could take a vote on if I wanted a raise.

Oh okay, I understand that. I'm just happy with the way Canada is structured, I'm grateful for the free healthcare and low-income family benefits.

But yeah, as the daughter of a hardcore anarchist, I totally see where you're coming from.

Lady_Mac-you're dad rocks. Gotta say it. Less government (in my book) =more freedom
smiles.gif

Raerae-I wish we could do that too. Be taxed on items we support. But the problem is that will never happen
ssad.gif
The fed tax score? Probably somewhere in the 100's :p LOL

Anyway just an update for you ladies out there who actually care about the fair tax- I am elated almost orgasmic. I couldn't get down there, I wrote a letter though! And according to the boortz website this thing has really picked up steam. in ATL there were 4,500 people and another 4,500 people got turned away. In Orlando since it was an outdoor venue- it was 10,000 (maybe more) people.

If 10,000 show up for all of this can you only imagine what would happen if we all started pushing for this? In every major city in in every state in the US if 10,000 people showed up?

And guys these people believe in it so much (and I wish I could've gone) it was hot and humid and anyone who has ever lived in FL knows that when we say hot and humid we're talking a whole new level of hot and humid!
smiles.gif

So anyway, I'm still doing my usual stuff to push more for this

I hope I live to see the day....when uninsured people (and there are a whole lot of them) can actually see a doctor instead of staying ill because they can't afford the $200 it takes to just see the doctor...not including the medicine you'll need.

The good news is-with the aboloshment of the IRS and the transparancy of the taxes with the new tax code if it goes through there will probably be more of a chance to do this!
