Acrylics question (need advice from professionals)

i was wondering if someone could tell me what the difference was between, "natural" and "clear" acrylic powder??

also if anyone knows what is a good site to purchase monomer, powder, etc etc at?? im also reeeally trying to find somewhere that sells "american white" acrylic powder... it's not as bright white as the regular pure white powder you usually get when you do a pink & white... it is a softer more natural white.

im also looking for a really good brush to do acrylics so i'd appreciate any recommendations!

i use the Cheri Kolinsky #12 brush when i do my own french manicures...and i beleive this is also used for doing acrylics. my friend's mom is a manicurist and got me the brush for $8 - i tried brushes from Sally's that cost $5-10 and they sucked.

sorry, don't know about acrylics - think i've only had them done 4 times in my life.

thanks for the info, do you happen to know what the difference between the brushes as far as numbers? like the #12 brush compared to a higher or lower number? and yes, i bought a brush from sally's and it sucked! lol

the numbers indicate the size i think. the smaller the number, the smaller the brush i think - not sure though.

Yup the smaller the number the smaller the brush. I use a Kolinsky #10 though I don't mind a size #8.

Natural acrylic is a light pinky colour, very close to the natural pink of your nail bed. And the clear, well it's see through. I prefer the natural acrylic to the clear, I think it gives it a nicer finish, but that's my personal opinion

"natural" and "clear" acrylic powder??

Natural powder has a little hue of pink in it. When you apply to the nail plate, you will get a pinkish peach looking ball.

Clear powder is just plain clear. I usually use clear powder when I custom blend acrylic powders.

The 2 brushes I use are Grand Artist Oval #508 (it comes with a cap)... brand is EzFlow.. and the other brush I use is Creative Nail Design's Crystal touch Pro Styler.

Use the EzFlow brush when u are thinking of making acrylic flowers, hearts, and stars... and use the Creative Nail Design Brush when you are doing pink and whites.

I recommend buying yourself some EzFlow color powders (boogie nights collection) and just start custom blending into colors you really like.

For soft white powder... get the Creative Nail Design's soft white powder..
It goes really well with the Intense Pink Powders. A lot of my clients love how the pink and whites turn out!!

thanks so much for all the info... as far as the acrylic powder, is their powder fast setting? the one i bought gets hard really fast....

the one someone used on me was really workable and took awhile to get hard

Do you do nails or are you just gonna learn on yourself? I would advise you not to try the latter. It looks simple, but.......good luck.
