Is it me? If i go to a family party or if im at a guests house and they offer me alcohol i kindly decline. I just hate the taste of everything, espeically beer, not matter how much i try to aquire the taste of alcohol i cant, even wine... Alcohol also makes me sick as a dog, i once had only 2 tall shots of vodka and i was out, i was throwing up and my head was spinning. I'm asian and my whole family has a low tolerance to alcohol.. but you know sometimes i just want to chillout and drink with the girls or just have some wine on a romantic date... but my body just wont take it... any drinks you girls can reccomend, trying to build atleast some tolerance to it -_-.. BTW im 22 if anyone is wondering.

Usually i dont like alcohol.. i find it boring and i prefer to watch people get drunk and me stay sober and laugh.
But i do drink now and again (probably once a month, if that!)
i tend to drink vodka/diet coke or vodka/malibu and i LOVE cocktails although some can taste abit sickly
i hate shots! i mean i dont mind them but just downing them in 2 seconds flat makes me gag! i usually have to take like 3 sips lol

I'm not too fond of the taste of alcohol either (except tequila - LOVE tequila for some reason), and my mum can only have one glass of wine before she gets a pounding headache and I am getting more like that the less I drink. Over here there's quite a big drinking culture and I find a lot of pressure to drink when you go out so you don't appear 'boring'. I used to drink a LOT when I was a student but not so much anymore.

I usually drink vodka - it's a nice 'clean' drink and I don't find I get hangovers with it if I don't mix it. You would need to build up some tolerance though if you were going to indulge in it more often. It may be that you just can't tolerate any alcohol at all, it is a toxin after all

It's not you at all. I actually had my first REAL alcoholic drink (so excluding new year's basically), and it was a Mike's Hard Lime. I sipped on it all night, got a bit relaxed, but I knew exactly what I was doing and didn't feel sick at all.

And as for wine, my sister taught me a trick, pour only 1/3 of a glass when no one is looking, then pour in half sprite/7up/sierra mist (oh, and make sure it's a light colored wine) and then just be moderate. It really helps her when she's not feeling too into drinking during family parties.

Just be careful with whatever you drink. For the love of all things holy do NOT do shots! They will get you gone faster than you think, I've been to a lot of parties and seen people get drunk over only two shots, SMALL shots. If you don't know your limits then be careful! I had to put my Mike's Lime down more than once during my friend's party when I knew I was getting a little too sassy.

Just have to keep your head about you and be mindful of your surrounding. And don't drive

I love white wine spritzers! Just go careful with how many of them you drink, because they are so easy to drink quickly. Same with cocktails, most of them don't taste alcoholic so it's easy to forget how much you're drinking.

I stay away from shots too. As I don't drink to get drunk I don't see the point in them.

I really dont like the taste either. Im 19 but still. I feel left out a lot cuz its like everyone drinksbut me...I HATE the taste of beer, rum, etc...it has to be a well mixed drink for me to drink it. Back on New Years Eve I drank a bunch of the green apple Smirnoffs and got drunk, then once I was drunk I could tolerate the vodka/cranberry juice, then there was champagne, coronas... needless to say

I wouldnt worry about it....everyones different. When ur drunk u either can have a lot of fun, or make an ass out of urself (or both)...its not a big deal really. Think of urself as being safe....nobody should be driving while they are drunk

IIRC, Asians lack an enzyme to properly digest alcohol.

Mead (honey wine) I find is very mild, sweet, and perfect for people who don't like the flavor of alcohol.

If you want to go with a slightly harder liquor, flavored rums are good mixed with juices. I'm a fan of mango and coconut rums. Don't add an excess of alcohol to it, maybe like a shot and mix well with plenty of juice.

I find eating before I drink (and leaving a bit of time in between) helps my body immensely. Also, limit your drinks! Don't drink 5 of anything in an hour. I'm not sure what it is, but beer and beer-like things (hard lemonade) hit me harder than a flavored-rum cocktail.

If you can't find something you like drinking or get sick, don't bother. Alcohol is expensive, and there are plenty of fun things you can do sober. Pretty much anything that's fun slightly buzzed is fun sober (unless you're the kind of gal who likes talking and grinding with questionable characters; I don't think you are

I used to be pretty heavily into alcohol and drinking, but I've calmed that down and hardly ever drink it anymore.
I love wine coolers though, like Mike's products (Hard Lemonade, Hard Cranberry Lemonade, the magaritas Mike's make, etc) and those Bacardi & Smirnoff wine coolers. A few of those and I'm pretty buzzed. I might drink liquor once a month now. I try to stay away from liquor because I have an anger problem and it just intensifies it x10.
I used to love Southern Comfort and drank it too much, but one night I mixed a bunch of different dark & light liquors into a concoction with Southern Comfort and had alcohol poisoning for 2 days. It was HELL. My stomach muscles hurt so bad for like a week because I was constantly vomitting and most of it was bile (I know, not good for you).
So everytime I want to have a drink, I think twice and think about when I got alcohol poisoning.

I love to enjoy a glass of red or white wine curled up on the couch with my hun.
A beer if i watch football matches with his dad.
Cocktails (long island iced tea

) if going out.

Different drink for every occasion, but I never get so wasted that I wouldn't know what I'm doing.

How old are you? I hated wine until later on in my 20's and now I can't get enough.

But if you're getting sick I'd stay clear of hard liquer. Red wine and darker liquers make you more hungover. So think white whine and vodka, and drink the best you can afford. What about a mojito? Those are pretty weak and sugary. Have you tried champagne? Or a bellini? I forgot to add, never drink on an empty stomach. Make sure you're good and full.

Champagne is good and light...but easy to overdo.

Perhaps some flavored rums with coke or fruit juice? Coconut, raspberry, etc. One of my favorite college drinks was Vanilla rum and root beer.

I do love my alcohol (I'm a Finn so what else can you really expect from me realy) but with moderation.

The legal drinking age here in Finland is 18 (I'm 22 now), but I've tasted alcohol way sooner than that, mostly because my parent's let me. I don't mean they went and bought alcohol to me, but that when we had wine with dinner they would pour me half a glass if I wanted to taste it. That's how I've become to love red wine and associate it with good food. Nothings better than a good medium stake with some full bodied red wine. Besides wine I really like cocktails (esp. Mojito) and dry apple cider (I mean the one that has about 4-5% of alcohol in it). Nothing beats cold apple cider after sauna. Oh, and I hate beer, can't stand the taste of it!

I don't think it's necessary to drink alcohol but if you want to try it out maybe start with something like Bacardi Breezer or Smirnoff Ice, they mostly taste like soda but have the same precentage of alcohol than cocktails. And like Beaty Mark said eat before you drink! That way you don't get tipsy as easily as if you would drink to an empty stomach. And also remember that when you have periods you get drunk more easily.
But the most important thing is that don't overdrink! Maybe only a few drinks per night at firts and if you start feeling sick stop and drink some water or coke. It's important to remember that hungover is actually a state of dehydrating and when drinking water between alcohol drinks can help your morning after
winks.gif

If you don't want to drink then don't, no one can force you to do anything you don't want. When in a bar a good tip is to get some coke with ice, no-one can now it it's just regular coke or a rum and coke if they don't taste it

I personally love sitting back at home with my bf and sharing a bottle of wine. Especially when it's winter and freezing outside and you can snuggle up and get all heady and cozy. When I was younger I really hated anything to do with alchohol. I hated the taste of it because all I could taste was the pure alchol. Now I'm a little older and have had many a nights out I find I like white sweet wines. I used to drink coke and malibu but that got a bit boring. I don't like vodka or tequila or any shots, but give me a nice glass of red or white and I am happy to sip it contently, slowly. There is no need to get 'hammered' when you are with your friends. My best evenings are the ones where I go home feeling sleepy and the next day, with no hangover, remember everything that happened. I have too many friends who go out and get hung over and regret it. It's not attractive. Don't feel pressure. But you do have to try a few drinks to figure out what you like. But if you aren't feeling it, just have a spirit or a wine cooler and leave it at that

I drink a glass of wine everynight with dinner. I have a high tolerence for alchohol but I don't like the taste of most drinks. So for me it's just wine and then once in a blue moon if I'm at a party I drink screw drivers and have some Tequila shots.

Definitely don't mix your drinks like everyone said. Also, drinking on an empty stomach is the worst feeling ever

Like Beauty-Marked said I heard that Asians have lower tolerence with alchohol. I don't know if it's true or not. I have three chinese friends and all three can't even finish one glass of wine....so it could be true

I hate beer, always have. I honestly never had a drink until I was 21. My bf (he was 28) and I planned our trip to vegas around my birthday; went to a bar there and bought a drink, and drank about 3 sips of it because I hate the taste of alcohol. I still do for the most part, but I really like top-shelf vodka; it is so much smoother and less alcohol-y tasting.

And I can tell the difference when cheap vodka is used in a mixed drink; I've returned many drinks after trying it where the bartender acknowledges that they used the "wrong" vodka.

I also have recently started liking wine; again, this is another area where there is a HUGE difference from one to the next, although with wine it is not always the price difference that makes the difference. There is just so much variation available that you have to do a little work to find the ones that you like. My current favorite is a white: Burgan's Albarino (a spanish wine).

But don't feel like you have to find a drink that you like. My current bff knew me for 6 years before she ever saw me have a drink. I still don't drink often, and I've never had a hangover. There is no reason that you have to drink and nothing wrong with choosing not to drink. As long as you aren't preachy to others, they should be cool with it. If they're not cool with it, that's really there problem.

But you should see people when I drink with them for the first few times because I drink everything (water, soda, alcohol, etc) very fast. They always assume I'm going to be wrecked and/or have a major hangover, but I know when to stop. If I am drinking alcohol slow, it means that it likely sucks.

Dude I HATE beer. The taste. Ugh. Beer burps are the WORST. I kick my husband's ass everytime he burps near me where I can smell it. Fo realz. I'm a bitch like that. LOL.

BUT *ahem* I do like OTHER alcoholic beverages such as *ahem* tequila, hence my username! What can I say? Its the Mexican inside of me.
