I hate beer, always have. I honestly never had a drink until I was 21. My bf (he was 28) and I planned our trip to vegas around my birthday; went to a bar there and bought a drink, and drank about 3 sips of it because I hate the taste of alcohol. I still do for the most part, but I really like top-shelf vodka; it is so much smoother and less alcohol-y tasting.
And I can tell the difference when cheap vodka is used in a mixed drink; I've returned many drinks after trying it where the bartender acknowledges that they used the "wrong" vodka.
I also have recently started liking wine; again, this is another area where there is a HUGE difference from one to the next, although with wine it is not always the price difference that makes the difference. There is just so much variation available that you have to do a little work to find the ones that you like. My current favorite is a white: Burgan's Albarino (a spanish wine).
But don't feel like you have to find a drink that you like. My current bff knew me for 6 years before she ever saw me have a drink. I still don't drink often, and I've never had a hangover. There is no reason that you have to drink and nothing wrong with choosing not to drink. As long as you aren't preachy to others, they should be cool with it. If they're not cool with it, that's really there problem.
But you should see people when I drink with them for the first few times because I drink everything (water, soda, alcohol, etc) very fast. They always assume I'm going to be wrecked and/or have a major hangover, but I know when to stop. If I am drinking alcohol slow, it means that it likely sucks.
