Allergic to MAC e/s?

This may be in the wrong forum, I'm still fairly new to Specktra.

So, I've been using my MAC e/s for little over a year now, and I notice that by the end of the day my eyes are crazy itchy, red, and dry. Another thing that sucks is that I wear prescription contact lenses, so they sort of "dance" around in my eye when it starts to become dry. Also, I noticed that there is sometimes eye discharge aka eye boogers. lol

Could this be an allergy? Or maybe my eyes are just dry from the contacts? hm.....

Have any of you experienced this before? OR, what are the symptoms of a person who is allergic to MAC e/s?

Thanks!

Welcome!
Could be a number of things, including the contacts... Many people are very sensitive to purples/violets and red browns due to a sensitivity to red pigments.
Also ensure you're pitching your mascara frequently, like every two months or so... and that your brushes are cleaned regularly...
Ensure you are completely removing all eye makeup at the end of the day... remnants can irritate you while you sleep.
And it could be your contacts.
Best advice is to take it all off, including the contacts, for a few days, let your eyes return to normal, then add products back one by one. It's a pain but it is the only way to isolate a reaction.
If you still have eye goop with nothing on or in your eyes, see your dr.

Dry, itchy skin around the eyes could be eczema, as well.

Bottom line, there are too many possibilities and your eyes are way too important to ignore the problem. Go see a doc as soon as you can.

They may refer you for allergy tests. I had a patch test of common cosmetic allergins performed. They stuck a square piece of bandage material (smaller than an 8.5x11 piece of paper) on my back. I had to keep it there for 2-3 days, then I went back to my dermatologists office and they read the results. Only downhside, you can't get it wet, so I had to bath/wash my hair very carefully. Absolutely worth it though, as I now know what to avoid purchasing and using.

Also, in regards to the contacts, I had a similar problem. I switched to contacts with a lower moisture content (meaning they required less moisture) and they stopped drying my eyes out. I currently use Accuvue Oasys and they are a dream. I forget they are in. Seriously, like butta'. One of these days I'll get around to getting my Lasik.
