Allergies to Purple products?

I am pretty sure that I am allergic to something in MAC's purple products. Must be something in the dyes that they use. I got Non-Conformist fluidline, and Nocturnelle e/s and wore them both yesterday. My eyes were watering and stinging so much that I had to take off my eye makeup. I have heard people having allergies to red dyes, but it looks like I am having issues with everything purple. I have never had this problem before with any other mac products. Anyone else ever had this problem? Back to mac I go to return the beautiful purples that I can't wear

I cannot wear: Nocturnelle, Hepcat, Satellite Dreams, Pinked Mauve and probably Leisuretime and that purple that came out with Ornamentalism. It is the red dye in these colors. I can't remember the dye number. It may be red 77 or red 33 or something like that. Argh! I feel your pain.

It is common to have allergies to certain colors. The chemical make up of the pigment can be totally different from color to color and that can cause allergies. Some people have issues with red, others with purple. Most colors that require a lot of pigment; ex. reds or pinks or purples, can cause more reactions that golds and greens which can be less dense color make up, however blues can also cause more allergies. I would suggest taking them back and telling MAC about the issue

hope to help.

Yep, I have them too! I own several colors that i can't wear, darker purples/fuschias, such as hepcat, nocturnelle, but I also have a problem with coppering and rule as well...It makes me sad and sometimes I just put on a heavy base of paint and use them anyway.

Yes, that`s very possible. As the other girls already said, it is probably the red dye in them. First time I used my Rose piggie (there is red dye in it), my eyes got really swollen. It was scary.

did you try to use a base under it? maybe the base would prevent the eye shadow from directly touching your eyelids??

I had a problem with my tilt, my eyelids stung and itched whenever I had it on..

I figure it's a dye they used? I know there isn't red dye in it, but I don't know..

Hahaha, ughh. I just wore Nocturnelle yesterday and my eye was watering. I love purple so I'll wear it anyways, but I'll try to keep it more on my lid or crease and away from my lashline or something.
