Any (aspiring or pro) photographers here?

I'm putting together a portfolio of my photography, as I am applying to CCA (California College of the Arts), a private, amazing art school. I've been researching the school and visited this year and fell in love with the campus and the professors seem great.

I am extremely passionate about photography and am really determined to get into this school and make it work. I previously attended AAU in San Francisco but left after a semester. I was studying Graphic Design and fell in love with my photo. class -- but even that instructor left much to be desired. The whole program was not very serious or challenging to me. To each her own. But I am moving on.

I would love to know if there are any other ladies/boys here that are photographers, or are going to school for it, or are just passionate about being behind the lens.

Also, more specifically, any words of wisdom for applying a photography program? Assembling my portfolio has been extremely stressful, and worring about not being accepted after so much work has my nerves shot. I'm worn out but still have a lot of nervous energy -- I went for a run to take a break from the portfolio and I am still wide awake @ nearly twelve. Haha.

Hey! I'm also a photographer! I did not go to an art school, though...I should have. I actually went with the route of taking beginning and advaned photo in highschool, going to college for computer networking and telecommunications, modeling for a photographer and deciding that I like being behind the camera better, I then bought a professional digital camera from that same photographer. I've been putting together portfolios and working on building my own studio, until then Jared (my photographer friend) lets me use his whenever I need, and I will be interviewing at a portriat studio tomorrow. That is not my ideal job but at least it'll give me more practice with a different camera until I can get my own business booming! I already do car shots for people in the area and some senior pictures.

It is a REALLY fun industry if you are really passionate about it. Not a huge money maker at first though. I'm sure you'll be fine 8)
