what are your top 3? i have a number of favourites but after pondering it for a while, here are mine, in no particular order:

I really love this one from 'On the Road' by Jack Kerouac:

My 'serious' quotes would be way too long but would come from James' Joyce's novel 'Portrait Of An Artist As A Young Man', part of a poem by Sir Thomas Wyatt, and probably Oscar Wilde declaring his genius when asked by American customs if he had anything to declare whilst visiting for a lecture tour I think.

But I've got 3 funny movie quotes, it's also in the delivery/performance. Just listing them here doesn't do them justice:

"I'll eat your heart out just for pleasure! I'm talking like a sex maniac, d'you know what I mean, D'YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN?!"
(John Cusack's character manages to drive a car and scream this while hanging out of the window in 'The Sure Thing')

(Little John addressing Robin Hood in 'Robin Hood: Men In Tights')

(reply to fellow crowd member as Jesus gives his famous 'blessed are the peacemakers' sermon. They incorrectly overhear the famous phrase as 'blessed are the cheesemakers' and don't quite understand its meaning. Fantastic scene in Monty Python's 'Life of Brian')

thanks for sharing. since a few of you have shared funny ones here's one of my favs:
Gozer the Traveler - he will come in one of the prechosen forms. During the rectification of the Valdranaii, the traveler came as a large and moving Torr! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the Meketrex supplicants they chose a new form for him - THAT OF A GIANT SLORR! Many shubs and zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the slorr that day, I can tell you! -Vince Clortho
