Anybody have tips for body painting?

I want to get started with body painting. I got the paint sticks, and my trainer told me about drawing with Chickory first, and about shaving the body and using anti-persperant on the backs of knees, etc. the night before. So I'm just going to jump in and practice on my husband. But I'm painting a girl for a calendar in 2 weeks, so any tips are welcome! Also, does anybody know the best way to paint lace? I would assume airbrushing over real lace, but I'm not airbrushing yet. Any other ideas?

for the lace.. you could either brush a powder of the lace or get a tiny paint roller and dip it in body paint and roll it over the lace.
