There's too many areas of PR (celebrity, financial, events, crisis management etc etc etc etc) to be able to group it all together into pro and cons for the profession as a whole but when you get to where you wanna be the pay is pretty damn good!

The biggest con for me is that there are so many other people here who want to do the same thing, so I can't find a job.
Like browneyedbaby said, it really depends on the area, as well as the clients. Some clients can be extremely picky demanding, while on the other end of the spectrum, you might have clients who won't tell you what they want. They just expect you to work magic somehow.
