I'm not a MAC MA, but when I had my Culturebloom face done at the counter, my MA used the same brushes he'd just used to apply my makeup.

Just regular ol' brushes...although I used to fashion brushes to draw on lashes from the lustreglass tester brushes!

I didn't work for MAC, but I was an MA for another company for 13 years. We used brushes and fingers to draw on the charts.
Usually we used the same brushes we would use to apply on people, though.

Amen to that. You learn to get creative. Firmer brushes and a base (for the eyes) will really help. If you aren't using a coloured base, then go with Luna CCB. It will grab the colour, but not discolour it. The long qtips work well, also.

As far as facecharts, my faves were: The 190 brush for blush (then buff it out with a cotton ball-looks airbrushed) and the 210 for eyelashes.

I lay down light blot with a sponge all over the face chart so oils from my hands won't muck it up-then for the eyes I start with a matte shadow then a ccb or paintstick for a base if I am using is veluxe pearl, pigment or luster. I use studio fix for the flesh and contour and for the lips I use a lipstick and I use a blush that looks most like a liner for the lip liner which also sets the lipstick. Blot power helps me blend colors out. I only really use the 242,252,266 and 225 for my charts.
