does anyone here find that nw15 is just way too dark for them? i can't believe that while skincare is so important and everything having SPF in it, i can't even get the lightest shade for my undertone to work for me without getting a tan or mixing in a million things into it. i love the coverage that it gives and it is totally the product that made me fall in love with mac to begin with, but it is just not gonna cut it and i'm sad that i can't use one of my favorite products. also, how unfair is it that in SFF nc is way lighter? anyways, a friend of mine suggested making some sort of petition that people who are unsatisfied with the color range available and i thought i'd come talk to you guys and see if you'd be interested. let me know if you'd like to help out and have any insight on how to kick ass and take names with something like this.

It's me! Obviously, I'm here to show support for trying to get something started. Us pale ladies need some awesome MAC foundations too

I accidentally got sold NW15 once, oh it was so orange on me. I'm actually an NC15 and I'm very very happy with my foundation. I think MAC has an absolutely wonderful colour range, by far one of the most expansive - let's face it most companies make like 8 shades and there is no way that's going to match everyone.

Studio Fix Fluid is very matte and has a higher coverage than most foundations. I used to use it and alternate it with the Select SPF but I've totally changed my regime now. I've switched to Mineralise Satinfinish which is a low coverage, looks more natural and then I use Studio Finish concealer which covers everything. It works a lot better for me personally, makes the foundation match me much better because it's not so heavy. If you're having problems with the SPF 15 not being high enough try the MAC face primer with SPF 50 too.

I'm not sure about a petition. I think it's a little over the top but you could try emailing MAC customer service through the MAC website and see what they say. Good luck anyways, hope you get the answers you're looking for.

MAC is the first cosmetics company that had a shade light enough for me; before finding MAC, I always just had to suffer with too-dark foundation even though I was wearing the lightest color in the line. Compared to most companies, MAC has a monster-sized color range! I use NC15, maybe the NC would be better for you than the NW?

Definitely, it's too dark and orange on me. I don't really care though, there are other companies with lighter and better foundations.

I have suffered with paste face, all my life and my only remedy has been to blend the foundation, and then set it with a light or translucent powder. It is too dark for me, but I did not even think to consider taking the issue to MAC. I guess that's because I have always worn foundation that is too dark for me. LOL, the lack of appropriate products has trained me to just accept sub-par results! Oh the irony!

all liquid foundations by mac are wayyy too dark/orangy/yellowy for me.
I'm pretty lucky, my skin is pretty even looking, so i don't need to wear foundation every day. I usually just wear studio fix powder, which matches my skin and provides enough coverage for everyday.

The liquid foundation i do use is by MUFE. It's pricey, but i don't wear it often, so it'll last me forever. It would b e nice if mac came out with lighter shades though.

Well, I'm not that pale but I do have trouble with foundation.

For some reason I have alot of pink tones in my face, but my body is more golden or yellow toned. As a result NW shades such as NW20 looks perfect on my face but once blended into my neck looks too orange. NW15 blends better into my neck but looks ashy on my face. I've tried NC15-25 and those are just too yellow on me. So right now I'm trying different combinations of cream or liquid shades mixed together. So far NC25 mixed with NW20 works the best but it still doesn't work.

I just wish there were 100 shades for every product. It sucks mixing stuff. I feel your pain when you say you want more shades to have better matches for us unmatchables. I don't know if it's likely though. =(

mac is introducing more shades on the darker side of the spectrum in the united kingdom soon, if i'm not mistaken. i feel as though the success of those new shades will dictate whether or not mac will introduce new shades in the lighter side of the spectrum.

when i was using liquid foundation, it was tough for me to find something light enough, but origins had one that matched me perfectly (and that was the second to lightest shade! so there's yet another paler colour they carry, too.) and the formula of the next of skin foundation gives dreamy coverage.

now i just use mineral foundations because i don't need the heavy coverage anymore and liquid foundations melt and look nasty in the extreme heat of the desert summer.

Luckily SFF NC15 in the perfect shade for me. Never even realised that I need a cool foundation. My previos one was much more pink, I looked like a little piggie wearing it. So though I understand your pain I must say that I'm really happy that I finally found a foundation that has perfect coverage and shade for me.

edit:
I looked at the MAC site and compared the NC15 to NW15 and I must say that it's schocking how much darker the NW is, really weird I must say.

I know it's so annoying isn't it? I used to wear NW100 in Hyper Real which I found to be OK, if a little pink. But they've discontinued it now! It's especially funny considering how many pale models they use in their campaigns. I remember looking at the model in the recent Naughty Nauticals campaign and thinking "she cannot buy her foundation from MAC."

I have NW15 SFF and the first time I put it on at home I was like I look orange! I still use it and I dunno if it's because I've just gotten better at applying it or gotten used to it or what, but I don't find I look very orange at all. I went to the store and asked for a sample of NC15 and the MA was kind of a know it all saying like "But that is for different skin undertones, not for you" and I just wanted to say give me the damn sample! When I took it home it looked totally normal on me, but a little lighter. So I can clearly wear both NC15 and NW15. But yea a few lighter shades would be nice, especially since winter is coming up and my NW15 will be too dark then.

I dont care for MAC foundations. I am very paled skinned as well and I find better colour range for pale skinned girls in Shiseido - which is what I use. I have the PERFECT shade in their range and have never been better matched. I was using their compacts for easy use, but since I went back to prac and clinical work am using the liquid duo balancing foundation and I love it

I must admit though, I was generously given by a wonderful lady a tube of MAC Matte - vastly prefer that to many other bases now

MAC foundations are all too dark for me. I can blend out NC 15 to a point where I don't look like I have orange play-dough all over my face, but I have since moved on to mineral foundations. I would SOOO buy a MAC foundation if it was offered in NC5 or lighter. I'm thinking about trying the MUFE Duo Mat+ because of the great reviews. Thanks for the other recommendations, ladies

NW15 in SFF is waaay off. I thought (hoped!) it was just the initial production run, but it's a persistent problem. I use NW15 Select SPF with #187 to keep it light, and NW15 powder lightly to set. Nothing is light enough, and I've tried a ton. I'll have to hunt down some MUFA!

Luckily NW15 SFF matches me pretty exactly, but I sympathize as I've almost always used the lightest shade in every foundation I've tried so I can't imagine being any paler!

You may want to consider writing an actual letter, printing it on paper, and mailing it to them (snail mail!). I don't know about MAC specifically, but in many cases an actual letter is more effective than an email, and an online petition is the least effective of all. The more thought and effort it takes, the more likely people are to take it seriously.
