AVANT GOLD vs HYPER REAL PRESSED POWDER what's the difference?

Hiyall,
Since I NEVER get to see MAC at all before I order it, I wondered if anyone here could compare Avant Gold with Hyper Real Pressed Powder.

It sounds like HRPP would be more glowy and pretty, but it might also be really shiny and not that nice.

However, is Avant Gold really matte, or is it a little glowy too?

I wish I could see this in person first. I never get to see hardly anything before I buy it, and it is a lot to invest if it is not what I want- not worth the shipping to return it.

Hyper Real pressed powder is quite irridescent. You wouldn't really use it as a foundation, just for effect. A little of it goes a long way. Avant Gold MSFs make a great foundation. Avant Gold isn't completely flat matte and give a nice finish that can be used for the whole face. I tend to use HRPP for highlighting.

Thank you SO much. I hate not being able to see any MAC products before I buy- I depend on great people like to you to explain them to me first! I guess I will get an Avant Gold before they are gone then! I use Skinlights pressed powder for a fabulous foundation, and I imagine that AG is similar.

Now that SL is d/c, it will be nice to have an alternative mineral foundation powder. Skinlights powder is not matte, but it is not shimmery either. Hard to explain but gives an awesome finish.

I can't find the Hyper Real pressed powder on the MAC site, is this something they still make?

Yes, they do still make it. However, it is a Pro Product and wouldn't be available on the regular MAC website. Here is a link to it on the Pro site:

Its $23.00 and comes in the same style compact as Blot Powder.

I bought Hyper real PP not long ago and as they said, it's very irridescent, almost like the Irridescent Pressed Powders. I'm NC20, I usually wear Med-Dark Blot Pressed (just cause it's so sheer, I like a little color) or Med. Blot Loose and I bought Med. in the Hyper real it was waaaay too dark. It looked like a dark shimmery bronzer. In fact that's what i ended up using it for instead, so I'm just saying if you do get it, keep in mind the color and how shimmery it is. Whoever above said it's more of an effect is correct, I wouldn't use it as my everyday pressed powder. But it's nice as a little shimmer over something else. And use the 187 brush (or another big fluffy brush) if you can, I didn't have one yet and used the puff, it was very heavy looking.
