B2M Fakes?

This is something I've always been curious about. I've seen a lot of videos on fake pigment jars as well as eyeshadows that unless you really inspect them, you can't tell they're fakes.

When I B2M, no one EVER looks at what I'm giving them. They just take it and throw it in the bin.

I've always wondered if anyone has ever tried to B2M with their fakes. It seems like it would be easy to get away with and since I'm sure most of us are pissed when we get fakes, this would be a great way to feel better about it. Although, I'd never have the balls and would feel bad to do that to a company I love so much. Especially when it's not even their fault.

Please do not jump down my throat and think I am trying to go and beat the system. I am generally just curious. I had bought a pigment on eBay that I thought was fake (it turned out not to be and just had older lables). When I thought it was fake, I always thought how nice it would be if I could throw it in with a B2M just to get rid of it. NO, I never did it nor would have ever tired it.

I am generally just curious.

The MA's always take a quick look at what I return for B2M. Maybe they wouldn't know a fake though? I bet they would, they know so much about their products.

. Now I go to a nice store where everyone is very friendly and educated. Who the heck knows, I guess!

we check em at my counter. we don't do an intensive inspection, but we count em and i myself look for fakes, as well as people trying to b2m the depotted pans.

Like Erine, I always count and then chuck. We've been tricked into taking Bobbi Brown before, so I always just look over the items. I look closely enough to make sure there aren't any obvious fakes. We try to use the honor system, but there's always that customer that just wants to fuck with us, you know?

I don't appreciate people taking advantage of the program. It's not MAC's fault that you decided to not buy the product at an authentic MAC store, counter, or online at a 100% legitimate website. It's up to the buyer if they want to take a chance and buy off of ebay, etc, because there is no way to know for sure if it is real or not unless you get it at an actual MAC location. It's the buyer's discretion, and it's not MAC's fault.

Edit: To original poster, I'm not attacking you, but it's just frustrating when people do actually do what you're asking. Nobody is forcing MAC to have this program, it's just our way of thanking the customer for being loyal. Other counters don't have a recycling program, and we could easily not have the program at all. It's hard for me to comprehend why people would take advantage of our generosity.

right on bunny!!!

plus, when you're buying fakes, you don't know what they're made out of, and to get them mixed in with genuine mac products, where the known ingredients are recyclable, you "contaminating" the end result product that the recycled material is made of.

i just can't believe, well actually i can, that people are assholes and would screw us because they got screwed. if you bought a fake, sorry. you took the chance of buying it from an unrelyable source, and now you wanna try and get one over on us, i think not.

to the OP, when i wrote "you" i didn't mean you personally. i meant you in general, the public.

im sure some people have already tried this but its not ok

at my counter they just count the empties but dont really look at it

anyway i would never buy something MAC over Ebay i just buy from MAC directly so i know my stuff is real and i love the B2M Program and it would be so sad if they would have to stop such a generous program just because people abuse it

I've always wondered, but never got around to asking, whether MAC could recycle other companies' packaging. Not for B2M credit, but just for recycling purposes. I hate the idea of tossing out all my empties from other counters. It makes sense that it wouldn't work though, if the recycling itself is based on specific composition of the materials.

Does any other company take back their own packaging to recycle?

I have never bought fake before and I would never, ever think that MAC should be responsible for that.

I was just saying that when I thought I had bought a fake, it would've been nice to be able to toss it my back of authentic products but, I never would have done that!

I'm not sure if they do but you could always take your empties to a recycling depot. I'm lucky enough to live in a county that has an extremely good recycling program in place. But anyways, it's an option to consider if you don't like throwing them away...

On another note, I do go to MAC for most of my purchases, but I have bought a couple LE items on Ebay. Sometimes you miss the train and you end up REALLY wanting a product. On one of them I paid less than what it retails for, but on the other I paid almost double the retail. So it's not like I'm trying to rip MAC off, I just really effing want that product!! Haha.

Also, I will admit to buying pigment samples once a couple years ago. Before MAC really came down on that. I didn't know any better...
