Bare Essentials to Becca....the story begins

I went to Sephora yesterday to get the Urban Decay Primer and while I was in there, I saw that they had Bare Essentials and I decided to try it since I've heard so many good things about it on this site. One of the associates there did a demo on my and it looked HORRIBLE. I looked like I was in a coffin. The color looked so ashy and gray. Well, the problem is that their dark, isn't really dark. I'm an NW45 in MAC and their dark wasn't close. Anyhow, another associate came over after over hearing my concerns/needs (i.e. light to medium coverage, non acne causing) and introduced me to Becca. He did a demo on me and I absolutely loved it. I left with the mattifying primer base, stick foundation, and fine loose finishing powder.

I am very pleased with the purchase. I was wondering was there any that has had similar experience with Bare Essentials and/or anyone who knows anything about Becca.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with the Bare Essentials powder. Good thing you got to try it on first! I relish having pale pale skin.

As beautiful as black people are, it must be so hard to find good facial makeup sometimes!
I've never heard of Becca, but I just went and looked at their website and their makeup looks great! But way out of my price range right now...

I lucked out with BE. I went to the boutique and had them match my color and they actually had just come out with a few new colors that were exclusive to the boutique. She swatched Dark and the new Warm Tan foundation on my skin and I was Warm Tan. The Dark was ashy and greyish. I am NW40 so I know that whoever matched you used the wrong color. You sound like you would need something like Warm Deep. Anyway, I have heard a lot of good things about Becca. I really want to try it one day.

It is tough finding the right color but I think that I've found luck with Becca. I didn't think that their make up was too expensive because I usually use MAC and I'm currently using foundation by Estee Lauder so it's pretty much in the same price range. I'll keep you all posted.

Um, you're right. If you're right....it does seem like the chick didn't match me correctly. I hope that Becca works out!!

I am a fan of Becca too!!!! I live in England and I recently took a trip to the states with my boyfriend. And because I live in an area where its kinda difficult to get a hold of good foundations for darker skins I walked into sephora in NYC to see if they could help me out with anything. One of the ladies in there [very friendly indeed] suggested Becca for me in Chestnut! I was up for just about anything. When she was done, I looked amazing!!! But believe it or not I didnt buy it.

For $38 bucks I thought i was a bit steep and decided to think about it.

Well I guess that was at the beginning of our holiday and I was trying not to splurge too much! Well by the time we made our way to San Francisco I had made up my mind that Becca was the foundation for me. I'm mad at myself for not having bought more of her products.
