BB Shimmer Brick V MAC Moonbathe MSF

I'm NC25 with dark brown eyes and dark brown hair. I have been wanting to get a highlighter to get a good glow on my cheeks and brow bone.

I am torn between Bobbi Brown's Shimmer Bricks and MACs MSFs that are going to come out as part of the Moonbathe range. I've read nothing but praise for the Shimmer Bricks on the forums here and on makeup alley.

The one thing that stops me buying the BB straight away is the cost- they are £27 (roughly $54 each!!!). I expect the MSFs to be about £16- £18 when they are released.

What should I do? Should I wait and save some money, or go and invest in the best?

i've tried the shimmer bricks at sephora once...i don't really care for them they are very shimmery and i like more of a glow that the MSFs are great at giving off...of all the new MSF, goldspill is amazing and the one i picked up!! it's very peachy and gives me a total glow, i wear it over sunbasque or melba blush from MAC, hope this might help!

I can't say enough about Shimmerbricks. I have gold and apricot which I love. I really do think they are worth the money. I like MSFs but I love Shimmerbricks.

if thats your pic in your avatar, pink may be the wrong colour for you, try rose, its more flattering to asian skintones, i think

Shimmerbricks can double as shadows as well. I have a beige SB. It does give me a glow. I havent tried any MSF, but will be getting my first one soon...ill just have to wait and see!

after reading this post i "rediscovered" my shimmerbricks and i have to say that i do like the effect more than the msfs.
i find the msfs quite glittery, especially the newer ones but the shimmerbricks provide shimmer without the glitter effect.

Shimmerbricks are much more versatile as you can use the colors individually more easily as well. i use my SBs with a light hand and buff them in to reduce the glitter on some. i adore my Gold, Rose & Apricot bricks!

If you're anywhere near a CCO (there's one near me at Bicester Village) the shimmerbricks cost about £19 in there - also ebay is a lot cheaper to pick one up. I just got my first shimmerbrick (apricot) and I do prefer it to my MSFs, as it is less glittery. However the shimmer is a bit much for daytime I feel, whereas MSFs are more suited to day IMO

I have Peony Shimmerbrick and Porcelain Pink, Gold Spill and Northern Lights MSF.

Personally, i feel that the shimmerbrick has less obvious glitter bits that are visible to the naked eye compared to the MSFs. It gives a glowy but not shiny (read: some glitter) look.

Also, I find my Porcelain Pink MSF to have more obvious glitter bits compared to Gold Spill so might be better to test out the MSFs as the textures differ.

The glow from shimmerbrick is also rather subtle so if you're really into shine and don't mind abit(sometimes alot) of glitter, MSFs might be better.

Overall, imo it's a subjective choice and you might want to to test out the different colours and textures of shimmerbrick and msf before buying.

Well... in the end I got the Gold Spill MSF and wasn't overly impressed with it at all. I feel I have to apply loads to get a decent effect.

To top it, I've just cleared out my makeup drawer and found an old MAC palette that had 2 sheer shimmer powders in Mellow Mood and Taffy. I have no idea when I got the palette, it also had 3 shadows (shroom, bronze and another who's name I can't read), 3 lipsticks (frou, fetish and another unnamed), 2 blush (buff and prism) a spice lipliner and a black eye pencil.

I've had a look on the website and they don't appear to do sheer shimmer powders anymore which is annoying as I really like them now I've rediscovered them. Plus, I didn't need to spend £16.50 on something that isn't that amazing/
