Beauty School?

So right now I feel like college isnt working out for me. Im looking into beauty school which is what Ive always wanted to do anyways. I'm wondering about good schools in southern california. Anyone have any suggestions of any very hip, modern, schools that are kinda I duno upscale and good place to go to get a good job after? Also one that is good with hair and makeup.

MakeUp Designory in LA is pretty good i know a person who went to that school and there online site is pretty nice. Im planning to go there myself in the future =]

I totally agree with the above poster about Makeup Designory.
I'm applying there as soon as I finish cosmetology school and get my license and what not. From what I've heard about it, its an awesome school that you will learn a lot from. (I've heard this about the NY one, so i really cant vouche for LA, but I'm sure its just as excellent)

I know it sounds weird but fullerton college has an awesome cosmetology program... alot of people i know transferred there from paul mitchell and said they learned alot more. especially what you need to know for the test

Whatever you do, dont go to Lu Ross Academy. thats where I went. and they only look at their students as cash cows.. and i learned NOTHING. for 9 grand.

Golden West College has an EXCELLENT cosmetology program...I'm starting Aug.14!!! eeek

I'm a recent graduate at Studio Makeup Academy. Their school is located at Sunset and Gower Studios in Hollywood. In my opinion they are the best bang for your buck. The courses are very affordable compared to Joe Blasco, Makeup Designory, Westmore Academy. I was actually at a MAC store and the MAC MUA graduated at Makeup Designory 4 years ago. He says that the school is very outdated. That's how most schools are. They teach you the basics but alot now has changed. Whether in the technology in cosmetics and the different types of products in the market. I can say I learned the basics at Studio Makeup Academy but the teacher was somewhat outdated. She doesn't know about the latest craze in eyeshadow primers like UDPP or Too Faced Shadow insurance. So that's the down side. But that's also a big deal if you go to school and do not have a clue on these products then you'll never know about it unless you watch youtube! hehe! My teacher does not watch youtube either and that's why she doesn't know the latest products out there. She didn't also go through the sanitizing process (brushes) which I think is crucial when you're a makeup artist. I can say I learned more from Koren who has youtube channel which is Enkoremakeup. I really just went to school since its good on paper.

I think personally your best bet would be the Paul Mitchell Academy. I'm almost positive there is one in southern cali. I plan on attending one once I graduate and one of my friends just went to one in NYC and she said the school was amazing. Just make sure that you go to an official School because ive heard some really bad things about some of the school that simply offer paul mitchell courses.

omg i went to a pm partner school and i'm sure it could have been way way worse but it certainly wasn't that great. i wish there was a corporate owned pm school closer to me. but oh well. its still way better than some other random places. plus you can pretty much get hired places right away as soon as they hear you went there lol.
