Becoming a Nail Technician

I really want to go to beauty school and study nail technology. I am very passionate about nails, I really want to work in a spa doing nails and one day open my own spa.The only problem is my Mom doesn't like this idea, she wants me to go back to school. I dread school I went to a University for two years, dropped out twice because I was not motivated. I wanted to go to beauty school since I was 16 and this beauty school came to my high school for a college fair. I think this is really my calling because I am not interested in anything else and beauty is all I think about. I will be wasting my time going back to school when I know I want to work in a salon/spa. I need advice please

That's tough. It sounds like your Mom is worried you won't be able to support yourself as a nail tech. What did you hate so much about University?

It's important to do something that you love, that way earning a wage is a bonus. Unless of course you make a whack of cash then your lifestyle can balance out any hatred of work.

I'd say get a part time job in a spa or salon doing whatever they want you to to show your Mom you're serious

I like school in general but at that time I didn't really know what I wanted to do career wise so it was a struggle for me to actually get up and be enthusiastic about it. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it
