What do you guy think of this line? I LOVE the gorgeous packaging and the fact that they have replicated some colours from the 40s and 50s. The line also got good reviews on a couple of blogs.

They are a great company, fantastic products, gorgeous packaging, amazing to deal with... and unfortunately tough to find outside their mail order!!!
I've got a tiny tiny stash, incl. a lipstick that is the same color as Twig - but slightly plumps the lips.
I'd get them all the time if I had better access to it... (Oh, and I have to wear All MAC at work...) but they have a sample program that is useful...

Their packaging is lovely and their lipstick formulas are great. The colour is rich and creamy and it stays on well. But their products are soo small its a rip-off that you pay so much. And the lipsticks are so thin that the bullet breaks easily.

I got my first Besame order yesterday, so here are some thoughts and pictures.

I'm making the pictures clickable links because some are too large for the board layout. I didn't want to resize them too much so that you could see better!

Customer Service

The good: They forgot to include the free lipgloss offer for being a first time customer (type in First Time Customer in the comments field at check out, don't know how long it's valid), but said they'd send it asap after I emailed them about it. The CS replies quickly and is friendly.
The bad: They will substitute the samples requested without a warning and without indicating that they're out of stock on the site. This would totally not be a big deal to me if it wasn't for the fact that it's the only way to try what I want to buy with my next order.

Packaging

Very cute! Came in a box filled with cream colored funfetti type stuff (the cat had a blast) and a little shopping bag with a crysanthemum print wrapping sheet.

The items themselves are gorgeous, of course.

Red Berry lip glaze

This should have been called Tomato! lol. There's absolutely nothing "berry" about it. I was a little scared when I pulled the tube out (I'm a little color phobic, I'll admit it) because it looks like a fluorescent orange red. Very bright. However, it applies thinly and sheerly. Even I think this is very wearable. And surprisingly, it's not as warm as it appears in the tube because it looks good on me and I'm very cool toned. It even seems to make the teeth a bit brighter, which is always a plus. The consistency is like a thin and slick gel. It stayed on longer than expected and felt good on the lips. I've only worn it once so far, but my impression is that it's moisturizing (or at least not drying).

Dusty Rose lipstick

This is like a deeper mauve, probably their most "natural" cool toned lipstick. It was hard to capture the true color of it, but it's very close to how it looks in the swatch picture. It's tiny, but pigmented. I'm also including a size comparison picture with a quarter (for non-US members, you can see the size of the lipstick bullet in the 2nd Packaging picture above, as compared to the normal-sized lipgloss).

The Samples

The lipstick samples are generous and good for several uses due to the high pigment. I haven't used the blush and eyeshadow yet, but it seems like there's a few uses there too. The powder foundation sample was tiny though and might cover maybe half of my face. Overall, I'm happy with the samples. Only wish they still allowed people to buy them separately from a full-size item order because this isn't a brand most of us can see in person before commiting to buying something.

Here's a pic of the Sweet Pink and Raspberry rouges, Plum Dandy eyeshadow, and Cherry Red lipstick.

http://i18.tinypic.com/4kmsosp.jpg

I haven't used these yet, but I did swatch Plum Dandy and it's kind of a gilded/bronzed reddish-brown-plum type color. Too warm for me personally. I had tried Cherry Red before and that's a cool toned berry red with definite blue undertones. Sweet Pink looks like a warm-ish dusty pink in the pot. Both of the rouges are matte.

Edit: I just tried Cherry Red again, and now I remember why I didn't like it the last time. It totally turns fuschia on me. Which doesn't suit me at all, I look like a Lithuanian prostitute. lol.

Wow, I had no idea they were that small. I also loved the packaging, but thought they were a little pricey for me to just try them out because I liked the tube, and that's when I thought they were like a normal sized lipstick! I have so many MAC and other lipsticks to go through before I really spend any more on lips. But I never say never...!

I'm glad you posted those pics!

I adore besame stuff. I find that the size of the lippie doesnt really correlate with how long it lasts. The lipsticks are so highly pigmented I only need to reapply half as often as using a MAC lipstick - theyre so heavily pigmented that they stain when they do eventually wear off.

I agree. The containers are small, but to me the e/s pans are similar to other brand's pans...the container is just smaller. The pigment and texture are really nice...better than a lot of shadows I have tried. You do NOT need to keep dipping into them.

The lipstick I have has fantastic staying power...if I didn't have 56876515678 other lippies, I would buy more.

I have the vanity case and was not impressed with the concealer. The powder is ok, still on the fence with that.

A week or two after I ordered they offered their brush set as a GWP! I was so upset I missed it.

I'll make most of them clickable links again, to avoid disrupting the board layout with any larger pictures. I know this sucks, but resizing for different boards is a pain. lol.

Shimmer Beige eyeshadow
I've used this every day since I got it. Great for brightening the eye a bit and as a neutral wash. This and the Red Berry lip glaze are my two favorite Besame products.

Red Velvet lipstick and Pistachio eyeshadow samples
Pistachio is very warm, didn't work for me. It's a nice color though.

Khol & Beige eyeliner (rolled out all the way)
The eyeliners suck, don't get them! Hard to apply evenly, and it doesn't last. Just keeps smearing. Not very pigmented either... as you can see in the swatch above, the black doesn't go on all that black.

Vanilla lip glaze (in the older packaging)
Way too white on the lips. I looked like an alien until I sheered it out to almost not even there. I've heard it's good for toning down super bright lipstick though, so I'll try that before I decide on this one.

I realize this thread is beyond ancient but I'm also a fan of Besame, I don't have much but I love the vintage packaging.

I know they have been revamping the line. They discounted/cleared out all of the original line.

Their new website is very cool - and you can see their new lip trios there. Besame Cosmetics - All Natural Lipsticks

Looks like they kept some of the original colours but everything is in all new packaging. I've always loved the retro vibe of this line.

ETA: Looks like the original line is still available as the "Classic Collection", but not via their website.

I bought 3 Besame lipsticks from a seller here on the forums and I love them! They are pretty tiny but their lasting power is incredible. I've tried Besame red, Hot Red, and Red Velvet.
