I'm full of questions today I know

I need to get a nice brown to add to my collection but am not sure which to get. I'm looking specifically for MAC. I'd like to stay away from one with red in it since they tend to look funny on me.

Thanks for any advice you can give me

Most of the ones I tend to buy have been Lustres/Frost but I like them all except Mattes. Although since I'm getting older I probably should get used to mattes.

There - wasn't that helpful

I guess I'm open to anything.

Yeah mattes e/s are more appropriate, the thing is frost or lustre e/s tend to bring out wrinkles and lines. But it depends on how much makeup you put on!
I'd recommend you Expresso (Matte) which is a beautiful deep brown (this is one of my must-haves), Mulch (frost), Brun (satin) or Coquette (satin) which is a soft nice taupe colour.

You're welcome! BTW have you got some lighter colours to go with your browns? Otherwise, I suggest you to get Shroom, Jest and Ricepaper!

try saddle... i'm not sure which finish it is (satin, matte...) it's not a shimmer. it's a great crease color and is used in just about every MAC look... it's not dramatic and it's not undone, just perfect for crease... usu if i ask an MA what color are they wearing.. saddle comes up.. HTH!

good luck!

I agree with everybody so far.

One of my favorite browns is Mystery, which is a satin. I also love Patina. It's a frost, but even though I am older, I have no trouble wearing it. . . maybe because it is more duochromish than sparkly. Also you might enjoy Brule, which is another satin, to go with your browns. Have fun collecting them--I warn you, they are addictive.

Mulch - definitely Mulch! it's a medium golden brown and it's a velvet texture, not frost, so the shimmer is gentle. i'm closer to 50 than 40 and i've worn this shade since it first came out - well over a decade ago!

I am NW20 also and my fav mid-tone brown is also without a doubt Mulch e/s. It is beautiful. Makes for a very glowy look, esp along with All That Glitters e/s.

rouquinne I'm glad to see that there are definitely some people here with some more "life experience" shall we say

I've seen some of the pics of people on here and was starting to feel really old even though I'm only in my 30s!!!!
