Say that 5 times in a row!

Hello ladies!
Big time lurker but now I'm out.

The one thing I still do not have a handle on is
blush application and I am pretty sure I am not using the right tool.
So my question is what brush would you recommend?

Thank you!

If you're having a hard time with blush application, the one brush you absolutely, positively, no doubt need is the MAC #187. Don't try to 'cheap out' on other, less expensive 'skunk' style brushes, 'cause (*I* feel) they don't measure up. Yes, the 187 IS expensive..but I've had mine for about two years now, and it's good as ever. I LOVE this brush. Aaand, blush isn't the only product this brush is good for. It has multi-uses, some of which include powders (pressed and loose), Skinfinshes (natural and mineralized), Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks and similiar products, any type of luminizing product (liquids, creams, and powders), and of course, foundation..I'm sure by now you've heard of the wonders this brush can do with foundation; making it look "air brushed", and flawless. So, really, this brush is every bit worth the money. I'm going to call it a must-have. If you tend to be heavy handed with the product, it won't matter with this brush, because the bristles are designed so that it only picks up what you need..and then it stipples the product on your face. It makes it so easy for beginners that aren't sure how much to use, or how to use it.

Another great brush is the MAC #182 Kabuki. I love this one as well, and I use it for powders and blushes. It picks up a good amount of product, and if you get too much, you can gently tap off the excess. Then, using small, circular motions, 'tap' the brush where you want it. It delivers such a great look. I particularly like it for blush, because it gives that 'rosy' cheek look.

The other brush that's good is the MAC #129. This is a 'standard' makeup artist-line based blush brush..You can get the long or shorter handled version (although I prefer the longer handle). This one is a little trickier to use if you are a novice...but defenitely belongs in a brush kit. This brush is good for powder, also, but the head is much smaller than a standard powder brush, and made mostly for blush and Beauty Powder.

My advice would be to first pick up the #187...THEN, if you want to you can get the #182, and #129..in that order. You'll do best, I think, with the 187.

Hope that helped you!! Good luck!! Happy blushing!

I have 2 I use for blush. If i want a light application i use the 187 brush, but if I want a more dramatic blush application I use the 168. Both are dead easy to use.

I think blush goes on flawlessly with a big brush. A smaller blush brush can give u funky lines and make u look uneven if ur not careful.

I love blush brushes that have a flat top, you have so much control over your applicataion and it'sd pretty fool proof..I sort of buff it onto my cheeks

I love Urban Decay's blush brush. Cruelty free and gives me a perfect application every time.

Depending on the pigmentation of the blush, I use either the 187 or the 109 (both from MAC)
Personally, the 109 is my go to brush for everything, I will die with that brush in my hand.
But, if you're using a highly pigmented blush, the 109 is going to most likely pack on waaayy too much color.
So for highly pigmented blushes, I use the 187.

Both are great brushes and definitely worth the price so check them out.

For deeply pigmented blushes, I use the 187 so that I don't end up with a clown face, but for everyday application it's the 129 or the 168!!

I have three brushes that I use for blush. When I want a contoured effect I use the MAC 168, when I use MSF as a blush I use the 182 kabuki and the one that I prolly use the most is The Bodyshop Blusher Brush Blusher Brush: Make-up Brushes: Make-Up - The Body Shop
It really is ideal for blush aplication IMO.

I've never used the 187 for blush, for me that's reserved for liquid foundation.

Yes! I use UD's blush brush too, and I adore it. For cream blushes, especially very bright colors, I use Alima's kitten brush, which is a synthetic version of MAC's 187.

i like the 187 for glowy cheeks (applies more sheer) and i loooove 169 for a more vibrant flush of colour.

I agree!! I just got this Sonia Kashuk brush and it's AMAZING, I'm in looove with it. It's perfect for buffing on blush, and even better for foundation (mineral or liquid). It seriously rivals the 187 imo. And it's only $14.99 at Target!

Is it this one? --> Kashuk Tools® Powder Brush : Target
..If so, it does look really nice! I may have to scoop that one up next time, thanks for the rec. How is the shedding situation?

I have to say, I'm really impressed with her brushes so far! The flat buffer one I got has yet to shed a single hair, and it's SO soft, I absolutely love it.

o/t: The only other SK brush I have is an eyeshadow crease/blending brush, and I love it as well. It's sort of like the shape of the 217 and 219 combined, I guess you could say? fluffy enough to blend with, but the bristles are dense enough to apply shadow nicely too.
