Best Colors for Me?

Hi There,

I've been on the boards for a while, but I got married and haven't been on for a bit.

Anyways, I was hoping someone could help me with some suggestions for colors. My skintone is just a shade lighter than Jessica Alba's..I'm naturally tan, even without the sun.

Right now I HAVE the following makeup (don't really use because I don't really know how):
Eyeshadow--Tempting, Retrospeck, Nano Gold, All That Glitters, HoneyLust
Eyeliner--Teddy, PowerSurge
Powder Blush--Buff
Lips--Spice Lip Pencil, C-Thru Lip Glass.
Everything else, Revlon Skinlights Foundation in Honey and Maybelline Bronzer and Mascara.

I'm 30 years old, and wore makeup for my wedding, prom, and any other special event. I don't really have the slightest idea on what kinds of colors look good on me, or even how to begin to make things look natural.

Help! (Sorry the photo is so big!)

Satin taupe usually works for everyone. It is a great color. I started out with this color. Shroom would be a good color for a highlight. Woodwinked is another brown shade that looks natural. All that glitters is a good neutral shade also. It would work with pretty much everything. You can always go to a MAC store/counter or any makeup counter and ask to swatch some of their stuff and ask them for their opinions. The MAC store I go to are very helpful when you have no idea what you want.

I can't remember where this was, but I remember this big ol' thing where people with brown eyes were saying golds look good on them (and purples too). Maybe since it's Holiday time, u could invest in a Mac Palette for eyes, and one for lips. That way u can mix n match with out having to "think" about which colors "go together". I bet the ladies/gents on here could recommend the best ones for you! good luck!

I second that! I often walk into a MAC store without knowing what I want to know exactly. I tell the MAs colours I like (purple, green and blue) and get her to recommend what suit me. They always give me a few colours and try them on me.

I've brown eyes and my all time favourites are Humid, Beautiful Iris and Gorgeous Gold. Shroom is my favourite highlight colour. My 'must have' from MAC is Carbon.

HTH.

Tempting and Nano Gold go so well together (tempting on the lid and into the crease, nano gold to highlight). I do agree with LadyJ that Satin Taupe is a color that works well for everyone. It's one of my favorite eyeshadows and I use it about 3-4 times a week with different eyeshadows. I actually wore it today with All That Glitters

If you're interested in more eyeshadow, my favorite highlight is Vanilla pigment.

If you can get to a counter, I'd definitely recommend it. When I first started getting into MAC (and makeup in general) it was overwhelming, and I didn't know where to start. The MA's were really helpful.

Your eye color looks brown or hazel in that picture, however; I could be wrong. I think your eyes would look amazing with cooler colors.

I would recommend plums, as well as, dark greens, silvers, and blacks for a visible, yet dramatic look.

I would recommend beiges, golds, and browns for something more subtle and natural.

Don't be afraid to experiment and never limited yourself.
