This might be a stupid question but when I come across tutorials that suggest to apply lots of coats of mascara, the lashes never look clumpy. How do you apply lots of coats and not get a clumpy effect? Any suggestions?

-let the layers dry between coats

-use a lash comb to separate the lashes

-try switching mascaras, some will look clumpy no matter how careful you are

This isn't much help but I think it also depends on which mascara you use. For example, the brush for Diorshow is MASSIVE and personally I find a different technique is required compared to a normal-sized brush. Same goes for those funny rubber brushes (which I'm too unco for!), etc

i actually use diorshow...what technique do u use? i did pretty well with it las night for the first time, allowing it to dry between coats and using a lashcomb did help get rid of the clumpiness!

i put the mascara wand thing right at the base of my lashes and move it side to side sort of and moving up the lashes. Sort of a zig zag motion. Then I sort of blink into the mascara thing and then use a lash comb. And I dont let it dry in between coats but its never clumpy! hope that helps lol soryr i suck at explaining!!

"Remove the applicator from the tube and wipe half of the mascara off on a damp, fibre-free cloth. DO NOT 'pump' the applicator into the tube as this introduces air and bacteria.

Apply the first coat on the first eye. Refresh the applicator, do not wipe, and apply second coat IMMEDIATELY before the first one dries. Add more if you like.

Repeat on second eye.

When mascara has dried, if you have clumps, use a fine eyelash comb to separate.

If you curl your lashes using one of the old-fashioned torture devices, do it before applying mascara. There are new versions that are easier to use. If you're using a heated lash curler, use it after adding macara."

I have found two things help:

- Apply your coats back to back without letting them dry in between.
- Secondly, buy a metal lash comb. That thing is a life saver. It really makes a world of difference.

Also, don't rush through it. Alot of women try to go so fast. It's like swipeswipeswipeswipe. I always go a little slower - more like swwwipe swwwipe swwwipe. LOL.
