Hi everyone!
I just have a problem with black eyeshadow, it looks so good when you guys wear it on ur FOTD/ TUTs but I can never get it to BLEND for me. I am using a fluffy brush but the colour just ends up in a big matte smudge. It just looks like I've rubbed dirt on my eyes. Any suggestions?

well.. the trick is to blend blend and blend!!
if you want it on the crease, dont put it exactly on crease... just put the e/s a little towards the end of the eye!! and then blend outwards!!
because it blobs on the spot you put !! so place the black e/s or any dark e/s a little inward from crease and then blend outwards!!
also..use MAC 227 brush..damn isit good or what!!
really ..its amazing for blending!! its one time investment but its good!
if you dont have MAC brush its oki..doesnt matter much
the trick is to blend it in one side motion.. not like windsheild viper motion!!
if you are blending from inside to outside do just that, dont sweep it outside to inside!!
one way sweep of the brush is what is really important because it blends!!
if you use random motions than it smudges and blobs and looks like mud!!

well..i am no professional!!

I definitely agree! I refer to the 227 as my "magic eraser" lol. It's fantastic for blending out harsh lines though it sometimes can take away too much color, which is why I call it an eraser. But if you use it lightly on the colors you want to blend it's absolutely fantastic!

I would also suggest that you start out with a base (if you aren't already) such as UDPP, paint pot, etc. Then also put on a base shadow prior to the black, I would apply something neutral across the entire lid (or at least where you intend on using the matte black). I find that it often helps with blending and making sure I don't apply too much.

You may also consider shaking the excess off your brush (again, if you already don't) prior to applying it, it will definitely help with that "dirty look" you had spoken about. Either way, I hope this helps! Best of luck!

I agree with the 2 ladies above me and I add: Only apply a tini tiny little bit a time.. you can always add a bit mor when you've blended it if you think i's too light

Try putting on a brown or grey in the area where you want the black first. Blend well. Then, tap on the black. It's a layering effect. Smoke it out by blending.

For black eyeshadow, I use a very small eyeshadow brush (Make Up For Ever's #5S) and apply it with the tiniest amount of shadow on it. I apply over a base of neutral eyeshadow to keep smudging and staining to a minimum.

apply an eyeshadow base for eg urban decay primer potion. When i use black eyeshadow, i apply a bit of blacktrack fluidline as a abase (apply this with a brush that is made for creamy products) then with my brush i apply the black eyeshadow bit by bit, just to cover the whole area that i want.
