Black hoirrid hair.

Okay, so about 3 days ago i grabbed a box of hair dye that was 'dark brown' and it came out jet black and it looks absolutely horrible.. this is the first time i have dyed my hair and i actually have really healthy hair. What is the best way to get it out without ruining my hair? my hair was originally light brown with blonde highlights, but i was sick of it and wanted to go darker but not BLACK!!! please help!

Get thee to a salon! *nods* Seriously, don't try to fix it yourself; leave it to the pros. They will know what to do to lift your hair colour with the least amount of damage.
