Black tie event & shadow recommendations

Hi,

I have to go to a formal event next week which promises to be a real yawner. I want to do some interesting eye make-up to compensate for how bored I will be. Recommendations? I can't go too nuts, because the hosts will freak. I'm fair skinned (NW20), med. dark hair, blue eyes with flecks of gold. I be wearing a black strapless, and an underdressed husband.

I would try to do a dark/muted blue smokey eye. It could look good and just be different enough to be interesting and not out there.

I was thinking shades like Blue Noir or Flashtrack in the MAC line.

Why not do a bronze/green smokey eye to bring out the gold flecks? It's just different enough and subtle and its fun.

UD Baked from lashline to crease
UD Smog up in the crease
X on the browbone
Chains for the outer 3rd of the eye
Then for a really fun touch to a blah eye look use UD Mildew as an eyeliner
SMolder as a more "thin line" eyeliner and Black mascara

For the cheeks use a bronzer and a color similar to NARS Orgasm

and for the lips use a pinkish lip- MAC VGV lipstick/gloss
