I have Carbon and hardly use it... I don't like it that much. So I would try Black Tied. But I know a lot of people like Carbon as well...

Well carbon is a Matte black with no shimmer, while black tied is a velvet or a black with silver sparkle! I think everyone should own carbon because it is a staple but, you can find a lot of Matte black eyeshadows. so if you have a matte black all ready get Black tied

i agree with rosalie. i have both, and it's hard to compare them due to the difference in finish. i actually love the smokey look i get when i combine them

if you have a matte black eyeshadow, definitely go with black tide, however, if matte is what you're looking for, buy carbon. i don't think that i've been of much help to you, but what can i say, i tried

I love Carbon e/s! It was my first matte black eyeshadow ever and the only time I use it is when I do smokey eye looks with greys/purples. I don't own Black Tied but I may have to try it.

I just depends on what finish of a smokey eye you are looking for, sparkly or matte. I personally go matte because you can always add sparkle, whereas there is no taking the sparkle out of black tied.

I've been debating this same question for a week or so. I just bought Carbon online and I can't wait until it gets here. I always prefer a matte smoky eye, but I may buy Black Tied as well just to have a sparkly one in case I ever get the itch to use it.

I find that Black Tied is easier to work with, but I can see advantages for both (but in my opinion, you don't really need both). When I used Black Tied over my black track fluid line or any black liner, I can't even see the silver sparkles.

i think it depends on how good you are at blending.

im a noob and i have a really hard time blending out carbon since it's a matte. it's pretty difficult to work with but practice makes perfect right? :p

the first black shadow i got was black tied. and now i own carbon too but still prefer black tied. i find it's easier to work with. and also not as black as carbon which means i can build the colour up rather than having it too dark to begin with. oh and i love the sparkle!

I personally find Black Tied a little less harsh than Carbon, it's also got a bit of sparkle, but not too much! I love all of those colours you got, great choices

definatly carbon, if I want it to sparkle, I just add a little glitter, but I love the matte finish

black tied all the way. it's easy to work with and adds what i think is a true smokey finish with the sparkles- goes great over a number of bases. also great as a liner.

I have both and I reach more carbon a lot more. it has a silky texture and its a good smoky eye staple. black tied actually disappointed me at first because the sparkles didn't show up like I thought it would. I can appreciate it for what it is now but maybe I never got over my initial disappointment
