Hi girls!
Im looking for some advice really. For a while i've been feeling like my studio fix fluid is just fitting on my face.. sometimes it looks really blotchy.

It never used to be like this, my skin routine is exactly the same. It used to glide on but it doesnt. I use a moisturiser and now smashbox primer which hasnt helped. I use a small mac brush i got in the holiday set to apply and blend with the 187:/ I also set with powder.. i dont get why its suddenly gone so weird

Any suggestions? Am i using the wrong one for me or is it maybe that I brought it around October last year? TIA!

Maybe the Studio Fix is not the foundation for you. There are so many types and brands! Maybe try just the primer-you may have too much moisture on your skin to make everything go on smoothly. Primer is generally moisturizing enough, even if you are older and drier.....(ie you can't paint wet sucessfully on a wet wall or a wet canvas, it won't take evenly )

i really like mac's prep + prime skin, it really improves the lay down of my foundation. i use a cream foundation, so it might be a little different than with a liquid foundation but i imagine it's great for any foundations. it's very smooth and soft.

Thanks everyone, I think im going to go back to using a liquid to powder foundation, Im really not happy with how this is looking.

I tried using the smashbox primer without the moisturiser and it was no better :/

I've never tried the Smashbox primer but Tarte has one that I love...I got a sample of it from Sephora and fell in love, but I haven't been able to justify spending $25 for it or however much it is. that being said I agree that perhaps that particular foundation isn't the one for you. I like cream-to-powder foundations like Studio Tech. If I were you I'd go to MAC and explain the issue to your favorite MA and see what they recommend

Don't forget to wait 5-20 minutes after putting primer and/or moisturizer because if it doesn't settle and soak into the skin it can cause it to be blotchy. Old foundation can be blotchy because it has dried out a bit. Normally you only keep foundation for 6 months.

Maybe the color is not for you anymore. Since winter has passed you may have gotten lighter, which can cause blotchiness too.

Thankyou gals this has been so helpful. I thought it may have been past its goodness, I brought it in like Octob 2007 - so I guess that makes sense if its good for only 6months! Unluckily for me (atm) i dont have a mac anywhere near me til I move, I have reordered the mac tech as i used to love this - i only changed to fluid because I ran out! THanks again!!
