Blue Black?

Hey ladies,
I already have my hair dyed jet black, but I always feel like it could be even a little darker/dramatic. I guess blue black is about as intense as you can get, so I am thinking about trying that. The only negative thing I have heard about that shade is that it's almost impossible to get the color out, which isn't a problem for me because I am not planning on changing my hair color anytime soon. Are there any other pro or cons I should know about? Is it any harder to maintain than regular black? Thanks

I dyed my hair blue back, back in august. The only problem I would say is the fading. Right now I am due for a dye job...since it's looking like it's slightly starting to fade to a dark chocolate brown. I know it sounds gross, but I try not to wash my hair often..also because I straighten my hair as well. I read somewhere to maintain the color you should dye it every 6 weeks, I think I am a lil past the mark, being that I dyed it the beginning of august. They also sell special shampoos to maintain the color.

edit; also when I dyed it black, I got a lot of compliments, ppl telling me my hair looked so shiny and healthy. So it makes your hair look healthy!

I've dyed my hair blue-black several times and love it. I did a dark red and can't wait to go back to blue black.

As like strongerx mentioned, it can definitely fade, at least the blue part. It will turn to regular blue black, especially if you don't shampoo with color treated shampoo+conditioner. I suggest using Nice'N'Easy in Blue Black or Revlon haircolor, if you decide to do it at home.

To deal with the blueness fading, I've heard of using a temporary blue or purple dye over the black, and that should give you a very subtle tint. Call me crazy, but I SWEAR I've seen a blue Fanciful rinse!

Good luck

Judging from your LOTDs, blue black would suit you beautifully! I've tried Blue Black before, but it was a semi-permanent dye (Dudley's I believe). For me, the only con was the fading (but it wasn't permanent, so that was expected). The pro was that it created a beautiful sheen, that made my hair look super shiney and healthy (unlike regular black which sometimes appears dull).
