I think people can really wear whatever shadow colors they want to, as long as you know how to apply them and are confident.

However, if you've never worn blues before, it might be wise to buy some less expensive shadows and work your way up to MAC ones. That way, if you decide you don't like the look of blues on your skin, you won't be out $$$ because you bought a bunch of MAC shadows you're never going to use.

NYX shadows are extremely good and very pigmented, and I'd recommend starting with those. Their "chrome" shadows are incredibly gorgeous, they're not actually chrome finish at all but much more like Bare Escentuals eye glimmers. Hard Core is an especially amazing shade (deep blue-green with gold glimmer), I have a swatch of it somewhere on my computer and I'll get the link for you later so you can see it. I'm an NC45 and it's one of the only shades of blue I will wear. The colors "Space," "Bayou," "Lagoon" and "Chaotic" are all really gorgeous shades of blue as well. NYX shadows are usually around $5 each, so about 1/3 the price of MAC.

Have you considered colors like blue brown pigment? It would be a way to ease yourself into the color.

Also, you might like NARS Night Flight, it is black with dark blue pearls. It is gorgeous as a liner. HTHS!

girl i say do it and try it!! or schedule an appt at the counter and let an MA (that you trust) try some stuff on you. you won't know until you try. if you are afraid of it being to bright, just go over it with another color... like a shimmery brown or gold..

I say...go for the blues. I'm an nc40-42 and I wear blues often. Especially electric eel, one of my favorites. I know sometimes it can seem a lil bright, so I'll add suspicion or carbon on top of it to make it seem less bright. Once in awhile I'll use freshwater or deep truth, but not as often as I reach for electric eel.

I tried to do a replica of what a MAC artist did on me. I used Big T instead of the Electric Eel...I really liked it. It looked really nice and the bright color didn't look so BRIGHT. Wish I had a picture of the electric eel to show you. Don't look at my cheeks...haha...I was attempting to contour...LoL...Total crap!

I hope this encourages you to use blues. They are great colors!

I'm nc43 too and even though i don't wear blues often i get the most compliments when i do rock them. we have a good complexion so we can pretty much do any color but blue is certainly hot on us. in addition to electric eel and deep truth, i think freshwater is nice and so is moon's reflection (for a light option), and thunder and bluestorm from the new collection. also try contrast for as a fresh alternative to the standard black or brown smokey eye!

I think you would look gorgeous in blue shades! If I were you I might start off wearing blues as liners just to get a little more comfortable with them. Then I would maybe try going to blue eye shadow shades but keeping them closer to the lash line so they are visible but aren't so much they make you feel self conscious wearing them. By then you will probably be pretty comfy wearing the shades and will be more adventurous to try more daring looks. You also might want to try deeper blue shades at first before you go to the more vibrant ones.

I'm NC42-43. I tend to shy away from blues, as well (true blues and bluer purples seem to make the whites of my eyes look a tad yellow). But I have Shimmermoss (which is more aqua than blue) and enjoy wearing it. I'll attach a pic of it so you can see; Shimmermoss is the lid color. I also have some Jewel Blue in the outside corner.

I'm an NC40 and I've used TILT with CONTRAST and IDOL EYES. I thought it looked pretty good until one day at work I heard this customer whisper in another language that my makeup reminded her of a bird's eyes... well I understood what she said and I didn't take it as a compliment! :spy: I guess the colors were just a lil too light for me (or perhaps my application sucked) so my suggestion is to go with darker shades blue.
