Blush Question

First post!

I only recently got into high-end makeup a year ago and left behind 4 years worth of loreal and maybelline. I by chance stumbled across some creme blush at clinique and loved it! I really like how powerful a swipe of color is (i mostly use sweet william and nars' cactus flower) and how smoothly the cream goes on without requiring a lot of foundation to stick onto.

I want to keep collecting my creams but freaked out when i found out that they only have a shelf-life of 2-3 years. At the rate i am acquiring them, half of my beloveds will go rancid before i even really get to make it my signature color. (do any of you guys have this same problem?)

I have shied away from the drugstore powder blushes because close up it looks like you have cement on your face (ie, it's not smooth) For those of you who have tried both the drugstore and let's say a NARS blush, do you think the nars doesn't cake on as much? It seems like it would, since it is still made of powder, but is it possible that the grains are finer? (oh ps i am very far away from the nearest sephora so i must order everything online - this means no trying on)

thanks a lot to anyone who can help

Blushes are tough, I happen to love the Nars powder blushes, very smooth. I am fair (nc15) and I have Sin, Orgasm, Madly. I've used Maybelline and L'oreal blushes, the quality is just not as good.

NARS in general is just really high quality. It is a very fine ground press powder and goes on very smooth. I am a makeup snob so I don't use drug store makeup, so I can't compare NARS to drug store brands.

Powders vary. Think about eyeshadows, which are definitely powder. Some of them are more pigmented/finer grained than others. Nars is definitely one of the better ones for blush.
