Booking For In-Store Events

Is this hard for you guys? Maybe our store is just really slow and full of tourists, but booking is really hard for me.

I've tried sending out emails, thank-you cards in the mail with Nordstrom Fresh Sheets inside, calling, telling walk-ups, everything I can think of, but I never get as good of a turn out as Bobbi Brown or Chanel do for their events. Granted I work with Smashbox and we're a smaller company, I am still a persuavive person!

Any suggestions?

Tell everyone you know...post signs at your local college (college girls love Smashbox)...when you do an application, sign them up. When I was at Nordies, I technically didn't "ask" them, I would just say "So what time would you like your appointment?" Believe it or not, it works (most of the time!)...good luck!

Booking for regular events doens't seem to be a big problem at my location, but it's the damn pre-pay ones. We have a senior artist coming in next Saturday & not one appointment has been booked from anyone yet. People don't like to lay down that much money in my area, I guess.
Speaking of which....Anyone in Nassau/Queens want to go to a MAC seminar???
Oct 21st @ 1....$75 pre-pay to be used toward your purchase, of course.
Hahaha, j/k, but figured I'd try.

I remember trying to book for pre-pays....I hated it! We'd only get a few people prepay, so we ended up booking without the fee...turns out people bought more without the prepay than with it...go figure!

I'm going to try that. I have a trend show coming up and I have yet to book one. They look at me like "Yeah, i'll get back to you."

I just don't understand why someone wouldn't want to sit down with a National Artist, or other big name people in the makeup industry. No matter how you hype it up, Niki's right, it's "I'll get back to you". There's so much you can learn from the artistry team, for a small price to pay! It's almost like people would rather sit at home and watch America's Funniest Videos than know the secrets to being absolutely georgeous.

Crazies.
