So the title says it all.

And I'm about to go drasticly BLACK. Mostly because I could never pull of blonde, which would be fun, but not happening on my head any time soon, and red is out too because I've done it before and looked totally sick.

So...should I stick with this dark brown thing I've got going on?

Or can I make the jump to black? I know its not THAT huge of a jump, but it'lll definatly be different...

A few pics to ponder over:

My boyfriend wanted me to go full black, but I did the 2 tone thing instead.

Half of it up top I went 2-4 shades darker (my hair's a medium brown) and did a shade similar to my natural one close to my neck. It was pretty dramatic, but wasn't too intense. Next time I do it, I'll go a little lighter.

And I also got this professionally done btw.

I did the blonde highlight thing for awhile...it really just became a pain...i hate upkeep.and after all those foils after a couple more appt's to cover roots, i was mostly blonde. it freaked me out...but im thinking of possibly doing it again in the spring.

id go for softer highlights.. like caramels, or golden browns they suit darker hair better then blond!

i would go with a deep purple. it would still look brown but when the light caught it, you'd see the purple. i LOVE that colour.

You could really rock a blue-black or a violet-black. It's multi-tonal...jet black with a navy-blue or dark purple cast, and you can especially see the second color when it hits the light. That way you don't have to mess with highlights!

My recc's: Try Black and Blue or Ultra Violet from Manic Panic right over the haircolor you've got now. Don't use Manic Panic on freshly-washed and dried hair because it won't stick. When you come in for the night, brush vigorously and get started dying. Leave Manic Panic on for at least an hour to get full color payoff, and then rinse outside under a hose in the grass, otherwise your tub will get massively stained. I've gotten tons of compliments every time I dye my hair with their products, but just in case, it's semi-permanent, so if you don't dig it, you can get rid of it quickly.

Good luck!

why not try a semi-perm, darker rinse to start with? i personally LOVE the color it is now and black is the hardest color to get rid of, since you just kinda grow it out...or try black lowlights to add some nice dimension?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I'll be searching around for a good black, probably do a semi-permanent first to see if I really like it

If you have a Sally Beauty Supply near you, Clairol makes a line of products called "Radiance Colorgloss" which is great. It is deposit-only so it won't damage or lift hair color, and you can use the "clear shine" for a glossing treatment or make a mix of 1 part color, 1 part clear shine for super-shiny hair.

I have naturally black hair and use it to refresh my color when it gets dulled by the sun. The developer part is about $3, a tube of color is $5. Pretty affordable, and all you have to do to get good results is use a good conditioner afterwards. I like it because this way you can try a new color, and if you hate it, it goes away fairly soon without the damage of traditional haircolor. The only warning I have is that if you are trying to refresh your natural color (brown), go a few shades lighter than you would think, because it goes on daaaaaaark.

t sounds interesting, I'm not going for anything lighter, so I guess if I went and got the closest thing to black that I liked I could try it out...thanks for the tip!

Sooo...I didnt hold back and dove head first, quite literaly, into just getting it all dyed black.

It's super shiney, which I love, and very very dark, yay.

It is wayy different then the darkest brown I was for awhile *duh*

But I think I like it.

And my Rockocco Red lips look wayyyyy hot with it. haha

YAY. I am wanting a change, too. I have been with dark brown hair forever, and I'm sick of just soft black. I need a change bad. Can't wait to see a pic! It'll probably look great on you.
