Brand new brushes

It's always best to wash brushes before using them as they have a spray/product on them to keep them in shape in their packets, that's why when you first wash brushes they appear fluffier then before, as the product has been washed off

Hope that helps.

Yes. I buy art store brushes, though. I figure you never know who was handling them, plus it breaks the seal stuff that helps the bristles keep their shape.

yes! all sorts of dust settles on them sitting on the shelf, not to mention the latent chemicals from the factory...it's just best to, like when you buy new clothes.

i would wash them first. i didn't know about the spray on it during manufacturing, but the brushed at Sephora are left out where people can touch the burshes (hey, i found myself doing that to see how soft they were) so knowing that, i'd definitely wash before using them.

Yes...my MA's always tell me to wash them before use. Once I washed a powder brush (from MAC) and the solution came out BLACK afterward and i had not used the brush at all...must have been from the chemicals used to preserve the shape of the brush. SOOOO...most definitely wash them.
