Broken Eyeshadows make the best pigments!!

For some reason my Amber Lights has just been falling apart for months. I tried to use alcohol to repair it and it worked for a short time but then it started to crumble again. So I decided I was going to have to toss it an just get another one, which I was not happy about. But it dawned on me that I had a sample container and that I could crush the shadow and put it in there. I removed the label from the eyeshadow pot and now I have this cool loose eyeshadow. Amber Lights is such a rich color it really makes an amazing pigment. I think I may need to do the same thing with Love Bud. It seems to be on the verge of falling apart.

Has anyone else had this problem with Amber Lights or are there shadows (not formulas) that seem to give most people trouble?

Not sure if anyone else had the problem, but my All That Glitters fell apart on me. It was the first one I ever had do that. I did the exact same thing---crushed it up and put it in a 5 gram jar. I love it!

where do you find the 5 gram jars? I have some eye shadows that are in the tube that "roll on" and the color is great but the application sucks and i think that'd make it easier..

I keep old jars of gwp size eye creams or face creams for broken e/s. 2 of my Heavenly Bliss's crumbled and I just put it one of those jars. Perfect and its fine as a loose powder.

I never really liked the outcome of using alcohol - it never stayed whole anyway and just never worked well for me.

You guys have come through for me again with all your info! I was in the process of depotting my shadows and the last one I needed to depot was my Bronze, which I discovered had become a powdery mess. Found this thread, then found the sample container I had and put the shadow into that. The label from the bottom of the pot fit perfectly on top of the sample container, and had just enough glue to stick to boot! Thanks a bunch!

My bronze is the only shadow of mine that has crumbled, but I got it back together with alcohol. But making a piggie is a good idea

the lid on my amber lights is cracked, but the shadow is still holding up.

It's my only shadow that has a crack in the clear part of the lid.

Black Tied and I have a crumbling relationship everytime. I always manage to let it slip of the counter onto the floor and its over with.

I smushed two of these into an old sample container. Now I have seriously dark black pigment. I use it wet as a liner, its great

I've also smashed a Tilt...and that got smushed up and I put in in an old Cilique container, its small with a green lid, the lid has a top you can pop open with a teeny hole in it. It used to have this golden shimmer powder in it.Tilt is awesome as a pigment. love it.

My Amber Lights sorta broke. It sounded loose when I bought it, but didn't move. After sitting in my "not using at the moment" bag for a couple of months, I found it fell out in one whole piece! I was going to buy another one when I bought the Untamed stuff, but maybe I'll just save it. :p

Do any of you find that it is harder to depot MAC's Matte formulas?? They seem to want to chip and break when the pan is being lifted from the pot (even if the glue is melted properly)??? Is this just me? What do you ladies think?
